I have a new (2007) model trailer and have noticed that the sealant around the roof vent is already cracking and pulling away. I want to remove the sealant and reseal it. What do you suggest I use? I would think that  a caulking tube of clear high quality outdoor silicone would do the job. I figured that I'd go all the way around the roof edge of the trailer while I was at it... It also appears that when they applied the factory caulking, they "drizzled" it in a serpentine pattern, ("S" shape) up onto the edge of the vent, then back down onto the roof, then back up again, in a repeating pattern.(rather than a clean straight line along the edge of the seam of the vent. Really strange, never seen caulking done this way before  Any reason for this?    Any better stuff to use than silicone?

McCampers

You could get a 5 gallon bucket of Huskylite tar and a big corn bristle brush smear that all over the roof and dump pea gravel on it.  That would probably seal it up good.

Personally I'd stick with the best clear silicone I could find and it will seal it if it is sealable.
