Carolina Beach SP - Wilmington, NC

Just finished our 1st trip of the season and headed down to the Carolina coast.  If you're headed to the Wilmingon area don't pass up Carolina Beach SP.  It's quiet with lots of room.  Nicely wooded throughout so you get plenty of privacy.  We liked the sites on the outside of the loops best.  

It's minutes away from great beach access and has tons of trails in the park along with a marina for fishing & boat rentals.  Don't miss the Flytrap Trail where the kids can check out carniverous plants.

Only hitch I could see for some is there are no hookups.  Waterpoints are abundant however and shower/bathroom facilities are clean and easily accessible.

We'll go back.

While I haven't camped at the park, I have been to Carolina Beach many times. I've heard good things about the CG, though. It sounds like a good place for spring and fall. The heat in the summer without hookups would be miserable to me.
