Pop up hit by a flying tire?

I guess now all we have to do is sit back and wait for the post on Mr. Fix it. "How do you remove a nascar tire from your PU". WOW that has to leave a mark!

My son and I were at the race and had a good view of the accident.  We were sitting in Turn 2 in the Diamond Tower.  The wreck happened fast, and the group where the tire landed seemed to be more happy than upset.  They were on a scaffle next to the pop-up.  The tire landed on the fabric over the rear bed.  There were alot of track officials around the site for a long time, so we were concerned that someone may be hurt.  We would learn later that night on TV that the owners of the pop-up wanted to keep the tire and the track officals needed to take it away.  

I do not know if the track is liable.  I bet that they may be simply to try to limit bad publicity.  If it was me, I would replace the canvas, get the tire, then put a sign on the now famous camper.

I think the  engineers just want to figure out why the tire came off of the car.  It is like when they pick up all the pieces from a plane wreck and then can determine what happened.  I had it on tivo and watched it , then called the kids in and watched it again.

We saw that it was incredible.
No one can predict any kind of accident. But it wouldn't have been my first choice of location for my pu at a race.
