A/C Sealing Question

How do you take the cover off the A/C unit on the outside.
I thought I would put some type of sealant around it.Not that it's leaking now,but to make sure it won't.

Can the cover be removed with the unit mounted to the roof?  Maybe not.

I say.....stay off the roof and if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Adding caulk is more likely to start a leak than prevent one. All three AC manufacturers say to NOT use any caulk in conjunction with their gasket seal. Just check the 4 bolts holding the unit to the roof and hand tighten any that are loose. Over tightening them is another sure way to get a leak.
