I will be cooling my fridge 24 hrs prior to me hitting the road. I plan to plug in my pup at home . should I disconnect my 12v battery while the 110 is cooling down the fridge? or just keep it hooked up to help it charge?

There really isn't a need to disconnect the battery for you to use 110v with your refrigerator.  (But, your propane leak detector draws from the battery 24/7, and within 10-14 days can drain the battery if not re-charged).

The converter will charge the battery/maintain the charge when your PUP is plugged into a 30amp outlet.  Using any lower amperage however is not recommended.

Solution might be to unplug your refrigerator from it's PUP outlet and plug it into a heavy duty extension cord run to your home outlet.

You won't hear any moving parts in your fridge, but if the back baffles are hot, the interior of your fridge should be cooling (make sure your PUP is level for best results).
