Problem with interior lights

A new problem cropped up this weekend while camping!  The interior lights are not working.  I can rule out what the problem is NOT.  When hooked to shore power the outlets worked but not the overhead lights.  The outlets are all working, the light bulbs are not blown, and the fuses are all ok.  I'm not sure if the outlets work on the battery.

Any idea as to what the problem could be?  Is this something a novice like me would be able to fix?

Thanks!

Hello Karen
IT would help us if you would tell us which PU you have. the more info the better it is to get an answer. But the two most common roof light problems are
1] the wire connection that runs up to your ceiling has a two-piece connector that can come apart. look along you roof supports and you will find it, push the connector together to make sure it it connected.
2] newer PU have a kill switch that will turn the power to the lights off when the roof is in the close position. On the FW PU's this switch is under the fold away sink. make sure the switch is being activated. If you have another brand PU I can't help you with the switch, because it could be in a different location.
Good Luck

I can assure you, no matter the make/model the outlets do not work on battery.

The two most common (OK three) reasons that overhead lights do not work:

The wires leading up through the canvas from the "box" of the camper to the roof usually have quick connectors at the top of the box.  Look around the top of the pop up box on the outside and you will probably find a set of wires coming out of the box and into the tenting running up to the roof.  Make sure any connectors in this wire are completely plugged in.  These commonly come unplugged.

There will be a safety switch somewhere in the pop up to turn the lights off when you pop down.  Usually it is under the fold over stove or on a wall with a plate that will push the button type switch when the bunks are extended.  it is not uncommon for these switches to go bad, and/or you to think the lights don't work when you don't flip over the stove etc.  Check the safety switch.

The third is that on newer pop ups there is a switch next to the door that allows you to turn off all the lights from the door as you leave.  Don't ask how I know this can be a common problem.

After that it is normal electrical troubleshooting like checking fuses and making sure there is 12v coming out of the battery/converter.

Good luck
