Has anyone stayed here? It looks nice on the website. Fishing, swimming, volleyball, horseshoe pits, hook ups, showers and some ancient Indian ruins. Also on the 4th of July they have fireworks over the lake. We were thinking of camping that weekend if I don't have to work on the 5th. It's my Saturday to work but with the 4th being Friday they may keep the plant closed on Saturday which is what I am hoping. I was worried the kids would miss out on fireworks if we went camping but this way we can combine the two.

I would appreciate any feedback on this sp.

Thanks

Gary,

Just got back from near that area on Sat. afternoon. We had planned an extra long weekend to celebrate DH finishing his almost year long class and presentation at work. So we packed the PU and headed up to the property outside of Show Low on Friday got there around 2:00pm but we got eaten alive by bugs as we were setting up. But by dark all was quiet and so we thought we were safe until in the morning again these bugs came out in droves. No spray or replellent kept them away. It was hot during the day it was 96 degrees at 6700 ft. but evenings were cool. We headed home to the 115 degrees.

Keep a check on St. John's, AZ weather. That is the closest weather reporting. Lyman Lake does have hookups, it is desert resevoir, there are alot of activies at the park. Afternoon storms pop up fast. The downside is it is a first come first serve campground. Call ahead to make sure that they are going to have the fireworks. Right now there is a ban on campfires from Payson past the Show Low area. The residents have magnetic signs on the sides of their vehicles notifying everyone of the ban on fires.

Hope this helps.

Mary,

Thanks, that does help a lot. I was going to call to see how busy they expect it that weekend and ask them what time I should arrive by to get a spot. I'll ask about the fireworks too. I took the following Friday off as a vacation day so maybe we will just stick with our plan to go to Happy Jack that weekend and stay home and catch the fireworks around here. Maybe we will plan a trip up that way in the fall.
