Entry door latch

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if you could help me.  I am looknng to change the entry door latch on the PUP to something a little easier for the kids to open from the outside.  I don't think I cold use a residential style door handle for a storm door.  I went to my local camping world and they were basically useless for this... only had door knobs for big rvs and latches for storage compartments.  Any ideas where I could get a new door latch?  Thanks!

You might be able to use a 'storm door' style entry latch (home depot/lowes), but it might require drilling your door frame (I don't know if these things are 'standard' or not).

I just replaced the handle on my 93 coleman chesepeake with the same one as
recumbtman.But I used the original inside piece and the new outstide handle.
works fine.

I bought one from the hardware store for about $7.  It is a screen door latch.  Easy to install and works, unlike the stock one.  I went through two of the stock RV ones before I got smart.

Thanks for the info everyone!  Seems like you've all use screen door latches.  I think we will try it.  Unfortunately, I don't think we will be able to get the ne latch installed before our trip this weekend so it will have to wait.  But We will try it!  Thanks again!

Glad I found this thread!  After seeing the cost of a replacement latch at the dealer, I decided to try the latch from the hardware store and it worked great.
Half the price!  Thanks !

Sadly, I just bought a replacement at the RV dealers, and installed it to replace my broken one.  Next time, I will be going with this bigger one for sure!

My arthritis gave me a fit this last trip when trying to push in the button to open the door....so, I slapped duct tape over the catch to hold it in for this trip and that worked very well.  Did the same with the bathroom door.
