Hi.
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I am new so please bear with me.

I recently picked up a 2005 Fleetwood Yuma 9.5ft pop up.

On the battery, there is obviously a Positive, and a negative.  No problem.

The question I have is there is a 3rd wire - and I am not sure what it is for, or where it goes.
It is a much smaller gague wire, and the guy I bought it from was no help.

Any thoughts?

I assuming this wire is on the positive side.  If so, it could be for just about anything.  You might find an easy answer by looking through your manuals if you got them with the pop-up.  I would start by calling your local Fleetwood dealer service department.  If this was standard on the 2005 Yuma they will be able to tell you pretty quickly.

Murr, It would be helpful if you tell us the color of the wires.  Also do you have electric brakes and a break away switch?  In some cases the third wire would go to the break away switch  and then on to the brakes.

Hope this helps.

You might be able to just visually trace it and see where it goes.

You can download an owners manual from PopupPortal if needed.

My Niagara has two black wires on the positive, and a white on the negative.

I made the mistake of thinking that the black wire on my pup was the ground. After all, with everything I have ever dealt with in the past the black was negative. Well not with the pup. My heater wouldn't work on battery but would when plugged in. I switched the wires and I had heat!

Brake wire for the break away - goes to positive.

My extra small wire goes to the  break away on my 06 Santa Fe .Take both pos wires and tape them together with red electrical tape from the dollar store. You might also use a red grease pencil to color in the pos& + on the battery. That way if some one helps you hook up it takes the guess work out.
