Charlie!!!!  (uh, hello)

Kelly

Charlie's still here?  How cool is that?!

Hey Charlie!
 :D

Not camping this year is different.
I went to Ft Worth Texas twice for a week each time to visit with my brother that owns Dearborn Mechanical Air Conditioning(and had to do a little AC work)

Kathy and I went on a Western Caribbean Cruise in April for a week, good way to finish off the Maine winter though.

Got a week long trip already booked for Vegas next May.

I miss the camping but we are filling in with good vacations thus far. The motorhome idea is probably out the window with fuel prices the way they are, heck may even end up with a popup again some day.

How are you all doing?

Kelly

Lean camping year for us ...

Weekend in Wisconsin in May with our camping group
Weekend near home in June for DD's birthday :cake:

No camping in July, but we did spend a week in Montana with my whole family.  There were 18 of us and we had a wonderful time.  Next time it will have to be longer, though!

Later this month we're going camping in North Dakota so we can get a sticker on the camping map.  (took a long time to get this one ~ I have a hard time thinking of ND as a destination ;))

Fall is the best time for camping in Minnesota anyway.  We have two trips on the books and I'm hoping to sneak in at least one more.

ForestCreature

(Guess we don't need a hijack mode seein as this is an official hijack)

 WOW! he's alive! :sombraro:

We're haven't camped as much either this year. That'll change this month some but it is all local. We go this and next weekend then labor day. After that we hope to sneak in a week of fall camping someplace within a tank of gas, with a 35 gal tank that could take us barely into the UP or even south a little bit we'll see when we hitch up I guess.

If I pull the tent out, DD and I can go somewhere. DW doesn't tent.
I still have all of my gear from the camper so that won't be an issue.
And I bought a 2008 Toyota Yaris that is getting me about 43MPG's.
Seems like all of the weekends are pretty much booked until after DD goes back to school though.

We did get a gift certificate for a couple of week nights at this dumpy resort :p. http://www.samosetresort.com/
Not sure when we are going though, maybe fall and be a leaf peeper.

Kelly

jeeeeeeeez, Charlie ... that is a dump.  Somebody must not like you!  ;) :) :D :p

My youngest DD thinks she and I should sleep in the tent sometime.  I'm thinking I like being off the ground!

ForestCreature

Sleeping on the ground  :yikes:
You're a better man than I.. (good thing seein as I'm not male)
I may never be able to get up off the ground.

Hey - I've been camping more than Charlie.  Woohoo.

One trip so far.  One!  (That is so pathetic)

Wow,
I was sure you would have got a motorhome before us.
Most of our camping is done within 30 miles from home, so we only do 1,200 to 1,500 miles a year camping, so the fuel cost is only a minor issue

We are actually toying with buying another camper and setting it up as a seasonal, once we find the right campground.

Where I live in Maine is pretty rural and 30 minutes from home doesn't offer too much. We wanted a MOHO to travel like we did with the hybrid. We had thought about driving to Maryland, with our car, to our favorite campground and renting a MOHO for a week and not even driving it except from the rental place to the CG and back.

My brother has an older MOHO that gets little use. He is always complaining about the brakes or something else not working that well after sitting 3/4 of the year. He said he wishes he had kept his popup. A lot less money to register, insure and maintain.
