Question for you all... When you switched to the Dark Side was there any changes required in your TV tires required? I need to replace my tires on my TV but the tire agent insists that I need a six ply tire for towing. This is the first I have hear of this one. He also stated that if I blow the tire when towing, I am on my own as far as the replacement goes. Any thought on this??

OEM tires should be rated up to and including the tow limit of the vehicle. Not sure about any exclusions or iclusions in regards to warrany issues while towing.

Have a fishing buddy whose SIL is the general manager of a large tire distributor here in these parts and is up to speed on tire knowledge. They deal with a variety of tire manufacturers and types of tires.

I pull a small popup (2100 GVWR) with a short box GMC Sierra. One of the reasons I like the truck so well is for all the junk I tote along, too! Although the truck came with P metric tires, the SIL says I'd be better off with the LT (light truck) tires, which are the higher rated ply. He says the LT tires have better load carrying capacity plus better durability also, better for side wall abrasion and impacts. They do cost a little more but he says you'll get that back in longer wear. They do ride a little stiffer but pesent day pick-ups ride so much better it's not an issue like it once was. Bottom line, he says, it's a safer tire for the extra weight and the towing.

Just a followup on the tires for the TV. Well, I broke down and bought the LT truck tires from Goodyear. They are the "Wrangler Silent Armor" tire. It did cost more but I did notice the ride was softer and not harder. Could be that 40 PSI in a tire that can go to 80 PSI MAX gives a softer ride. We will see when we tow again.
