Lights - no lights.

Hi everyone.  Me again, with more electrical problems.

I have a 2005 Yuma, and it has the "round 6" connector with a brake controller, etc.

I just got the hitch and wiring installed, and it looks great.  I get home, and plug the trailer in to the hitch, no lights work on the back of the trailer.

The wiring harness on the trailer looks ok...So the million dollar question is does anyone know of a tester I can buy to plug into either my TV or my trailer to see which of the 2 is not working?

Nothing is easy it seems...

Thanks in advance!

volt meter or test light. A must for camping with a battery and useful diagnosing trailer light problems.

Thanks for the reply.
I checked all the fuses on my TV as well as in the trailer - and they are all good.

When the Trailer is hooked up to the TV, I get power to the 110v light on the outside near the door - but none of the 12v tail lights, or signal lights work.

Is that to do with my wiring harness then?

My owners manual tells me the Bargman trailer harness wires are:

Green - tail, tag, marker (and mine light when I have the tow vehicle lights on)
White-ground
Red - left turn and stop
Brown - right turn and stop
blue - electric brakes
Black - aux. 12 volt
Black/Red Tracer - aux. 12 volt.

The "Porch light" is a 12-volt and operates directly from the battery (as does your propane leak detector).

You might trace the various wires from the harness back to the lights and see if there are any dings/crimps that would prohibit the lights from working.  Check that white wire to be sure it's got a good connection.

Apply a smidget of di-electric grease to your harness connection - it will help prevent corrosion as well as improve connectivity.

I've had the same problem.  I had the folks at the RV place take a look and they said that some of the connectors in the camper end of the plug get pushed to one side.  I use a thin flat head screwdriver to pry the connectors away from the edge and that seems to work; although I had problems on my last trip.  Another thing I had to focus on was making sure I pushed the two plugs together very firmly.

I hope this makes sense!
