Hey all, I am brand new to the forum and I cannot believe that the first post I am making is about porta-potti's!

Ou family has a 1974 Apache Royal, and we needed a porta-potti for my wife and 3 girls to use for those late night trips. Anyway, we were at a local thrift store that had jus opened up and I found a potti in a box that was taped up with a price tag of 14.95 on it. i ask my wife if she had a problem with using a "used" potti as long as we could clean it up. Well, I looked inside the box and the potti inside still had the plastic on it! A brand new potti for 15 bucks!

On to the mod...We purchased a shower tent at The Academy sporting goods store for $28.00 to put the potti in. I also had a potti chair for the disabled that fit perfectly over the potti when it sits in the shower tent, so that is our solution.

I love a bargain and it sounds like you found one.

Let's face it......ALL porta-potties are nothing more than a bucket made in various shapes and with varying ways to conceal the contents. The bottom line is...it's still just a "bucket"......even it it does have a "seat" molded in. :p . In fact, a bucket is far easier to dump than most porta-potties. No matter what form of container that you put your body waste in, the important part is the chemical that you use to do away with the smell and add a little more pleasant color.

We have found that Aqua-Chem (liquid) works the best for us.... :D The powder stuff seems to have a hard time diluting. If you use the powder, dilute it first and it works great. If you don't, you may end up with a thick layer of blue powder on the bottom of your "Bucket" that is very hard to get rid of..... :(

Some people just hate these porta-potty questions. I don't care....I just cut to the chase.... :-()
