Nice RV Chas.
Welcome to the Class A owners club.
It looks like it has been really well taken care of, (or else never been used). The seats and cabinets look in great condition

If I was to do it all again, I would still start with the popup, then the Hybrid and then get our Class A motorhome.
Driving to the campsite is part of the fun. We drove to lake Lopez to meet up with the SCCampers group, almost 4 hours of driving, and the kids all loved it. No more, "are we there yet". They could get up and use the restroom whenever they wanted, get a drink or a snack, sit on the couch, dinette or in the back bedroom. Last weekend 9 of us went camping in it, and there was still plenty of sitting room, (though my son & his friends slept in a tent outside).
My wife even likes to drive it, though it did take a bit of getting used to.
We swopped my truck for a VW beetle, so only having to pay $50 to fill the tank instead of over $100 for the truck makes having to fill our Bounder a bit easier. most of our trips are less than an hours drive, and we do less than 1,500 miles a year camping, so the 7 mpg is not that bad.

Have fun working on it, and even more fun camping with it.

Quote from: ForestCreature[indent] Kelly, we could all just show up @ Assateague and stay in that BUS :yikes: and leave our campers home. You could drive here and then we could road trip and split the gas ;)

That thing is huge Charlie, You guys should be quite comfortable.
Do you have room to pick me up?  Maybe Charlie could swing by and pick me up on his way to Assateague?  He may need $$$ buying fuel.:)

So how soon until the bus gets solar power?:)

6.5KW generator, may not get solar.

Assateague would be better for this.

I figure 1800 miles per year with the Class A at 6MPG would be 300 gallons.
I drive 30,000 miles per year at 43MPG with my Toyota Yaris, that is 698 gallons.

Combined is 31.86MPG

The Park Avenue I just replaced with the Yaris got me 29MPG. I am ahead of the game by 2.86MPG overall.

I will just forget about the extra maintenance because RV'ing is worth at least that much more than not RV'ing

You have certainly come a long way since the popup you had at the rally in Townsend TN.

That hybrid looks real nice.

My friends is built on a P60 Chassis with the 8.2L diesel engine (thus the air brakes).

The only place that will touch it is a garage that works on school buses ($200 per hr.). He doesn't do his own work but his brother is a diesel tech at that same shop.

I'm a little surprised yours is built on a P30 chassis because I think that his rig is smaller than yours.

I've sold parts for a P30 chassis and I don't recall any of them having a tandem axle. Are you sure it's a P30? It just looks too big. UPS trucks are P30 size.

The P30 came in different sizes, up to 16,000# GVWR (if I remember correctly). They also came with tandem axles. That P30 is an entire series of chassis. It was very popular for big vans and motor homes.

Thanks...we love the hybrid. I think we've ALL come a long way since July 2002. That was one of the most wonderful weeks of camping we've ever had. We talk about that week a lot, even still.

I remember me and several other men helping some guy move his popup by hand into a spot, turned funny. Wait...that was your popup! :D

How much gas will it take to get to FL or will that blow the MPG savings?

Maybe we can meet in NC (is that the middle?)

Really miss hanging out with ya!

I'd be willing to count NC as the middle ~ we don't have the sticker yet.   ;)

I'm in!  But you realize, than the word "plan" is used very loosely....

Quote from: chasd60If all goes well I plan on camping at Acres of Wildlife campground in Steep Falls Maine on Columbus day weekend. We like to stay there and go to the Fryeburg Fair.

Chas

Columbus Day is October 13th and the Fair ends on the 5th.  Are you sure about your dates.

Now if DW and I hadn't had the RV movie experience with the black tank at Acres of Wildlife, we might have considered joining you.
