VERY GOOD IDEA, just what I was thinking of.  Of course we have just spent two trips in two months to doheny, but if we get beach side, I will go, no problem.

Also here is a link to a map of the park, if you click on the site # it will give you two pictures of each site.

I will try for #93 and #94...

94 is a BIG site!!  :-()

Great Idea Wayne, wish I thought of it!  ha ha

Just remind me as we get closer I am getting old.

I re-wrote the suggestions for making reservations.

I hope that helps.

This really could be a fun camp-out if we can get a few beach-front sites.

shirleen

I hope I have as much luck getting a beach site April as I did in July.  We were at Doheny for a week with two beach sites.  That was a first.  Come on SCCampers...Let's get a row of sites!

Shirleen,

I know that you only requested site 83 but is it OK if I put you down for 83 and 81? If no one else wants it, I'll buy it from you (if you get it... ;) ). I guaranty that you won't get stuck with it. I just need you to try to book it after you book 83. PLEEEEASE  :D

Gee......I guess that I shouldn't have stopped using my antiperspirant so soon. I'm saving it for the Holloween Rally. I'll be using it again by April.....honest.. :morning:

I guess people have a hard time wrapping their heads around reserving a spot that far ahead?  We are used to it, and actually wouldn't camp as much if we didn't reserve them.

Well if nothing else we'll have a Harvey Rally. :sombraro:

Trust me.....after we get our reservations on the beach, a lot more people will want to come. Problem is, those beach front sites will be gone in 5 minutes. If the late comers are able to get a site, it will be inside the campground.

Maybe we can do it again in May or June if this works out well.

Put us down for 78 & 81.  I will sweet talk DH into going and mention it to our friends also.  The kids LOVE the beach

I'm still looking at the calendar on this one.  Seems like long way to go for a weekend for us.  All the way from Santa Maria to Dana Point.  Yahoo maps have it at about 225 miles one way for us.  Figuring our mileage, it would take about 34ish gallons of gas round trip.
I was a very young boy when we lived in San Diego, and my dad took us up there camping in our trailer that we had.  I don't remember much about the place though.

We still have a couple of weeks to decide I suppose.

Glad you're joining us Carol & Jim. That's quite a haul for you. I really thought that a lot of OC SCCAMPERS would jump on this one.

Starting around the 25th, I'll be sure that this thread stays up as a reminder.

Dee4j

put me down as "interested" I can't get online as I will be in the car taking Kara to school. she has a minimum day  that weekend . the problem with Doheny is the water is one of the most unhealthful in OC... if it rains right before we camp there will be no going in the water
