Inside storage - Popped up? or closed?

I have a wonderful friend with a BIG open garage who lets me store my 35 yr old PUP there for free - it's a 4 car, deep garage with a cement floor, dry, weathertight , insulated (but not heated)  and lots of open space.  no mice, bugs or critters - she doesn't keep ANYTHING in this garage except her 67 Mustang convertible! and a few tools her ex left behind.

My camper has been sitting parked in my side yard for the past few weeks, open - so it's dry and aired out.  I do have a problem I'll have to address, there is/was water getting in thru a roof seam somewhere, and a board I replaced last year is already rotting again.  I'm going to have to re-do the whole roof - but since I start a new job tomorrow and don't know my hours - that project will probably have to wait until spring for $$ and time to do it.

So, If you had this great storage space, would you store your camper in it in the open posistion ( I do have post supports that take the strain off the lift cables)  or would you store it closed up?

I do, normally, release the latches when I've stored it in there before - as all of my roof walls are weak, and the strain on the latches is pulling the bolts thru the rotted wood - like I said, the roof sidewalls need major work. I do have new latches to install, but there's no point in putting them into rotted wood.

So what would you do?

Open? or closed?

I would store it closed with the latches released as you said you normally do. In the spring when you have time and $$ to fix it, try sealing the roof edges with EternaBond or similar. The stuff really sealed the edge of my '94 Dutchmen well after a leak rotted out the side of the roof. Three years and no water.
Good Luck.

Unless you are going to be in and out of the camper, I would store it closed with the latches released.  :)

Congratulations on the new position.  Still with the same farm store?

I would store closed, and use Damp rid.  Being closed means that there is less area for the damp rid to have to care for during the natural variation in temperature and humidity throughout the winter.

Well, seeing as it has been raining ALL DAY and I didn't get the PUP closed up before it started, looks like IF i get it over to her place to store, it will be UP until it dries out again, and then closed.

At least I can go over often and check on it.

DANG WEATHER!

No, the new job is with a home improvement store - starts with an M.....

My son has been working for them for about a month, and he really likes it.  And they pay ALOT better!

Plus, I get an employee discount on materials for the camper.....
ohh... I could get myself in alot of trouble......

Whats the deal with leaving the latches released?  I store my popup in my garage, should I be doing this?  Does it just take a little bit of pressure off the tenting material?
