Hello Everyone,

I've been a lurker on this site for some time. Interjected here and there on a few threads, but mostly have just been reading about your adventures. Also use to peruse the old SCCAMPERS website. It sure looks like all of you have a good time. Thought it was about time I said, "Howdy!"

The DW and I have been camping for years. Two years ago we made the leap from tent camping to our present rig, a 2006 Starcraft TravelStar 21SSO. Many years ago, I saw most of the USA from the window of my folks MH.

Unfortunately, with other obligations of work, family activities, DW's schedule, etc., we find that it has now been over 5 months since we've been out. Obviously something needed to change. I recall from my youth that my parents found that the best way to get the use out of their RV was to join (actually form) a camping group. So here we are.

We are actually going to get the trailer out the weekend before Thanksgiving for 2 nights at San Onofre SB, Site #49 in the Mateo section. Never stayed here before, but hear it is pretty nice. Any chance any of you will be there that weekend? We'll be shaking up the Ketel One Martinis!

Looking forward to making it to an actual rally and putting faces to the names. And, no, even if there is a SCCAMPERS song, you don't want me singing!! :yikes:

Errrr. I mean..... Ketel One is good. Yeah. That's it.

I put my 2 cents in on your suggestion for Bonelli/East Shore for Presidents Day. We'd be there for sure if that comes about.

Thanks for the welcome!! :W

5 months!!!  :yikes:   Couldn't do it.
welcome to the "club".  Please forward all dues to me.

San Mateo is a popular place for this group.  If you post a self service rally and there are spots left you may get people to sign up to join you.

Welcome

Well, we were not totally inactive for those 5 months. We had 2 weeks in Florida (family went on a cruise and DW and I stayed a week in Key West beforehand) and 2 weeks in Alaska (150 miles north of the Arctic Circle.) We just haven't had the trailer out in 5 months. And it is showing it. I need to get out there and wash the grime and spider webs off. Along with all the PM that has been neglected since May. This is NOT what one buys an RV for, to have it sit on the side of the house. :%

As for dues I will need to pay in kind. IE, when we finally make it to a rally the Ketel One is on us.

Hoagie (Brian, isn't it?)

Welcome to PUT and to SCCampers!  I remember you (and your Starcraft and your affinity for Ketel One :D ) from the hybridexplorer boards--you were very kind and answered a lot of the questions I had when we were looking to buy a hybrid. As you can see, we also ended up with a Starcraft and have been extremely happy with it!

I hope that you'll end up joining us a rally or two or more! We're a pretty fun--and funny group, although I'd be careful about offering to supply the Ketel One. There is a number of us within the group known as "The Fish Squad" and I'm sure you can figure out where that name might have come from...unless you've got connections at Ketel One, your gracious offer could financially ruin you very quickly.

PS--Hmmm, latin in your signature...I'm guessing you're a lawyer? ;)

Hi Lori,

Yep. That's me. I'm glad you like your Starcraft. We still think we made the best choice for us. I hope your experience with the dealer in Irvine was as pleasant as ours. They have always been good to us, although with a Starcraft, it isn't like your need to take it in very often.

Have you noticed that HybridExplorer doesn't seem to be quite as active as it was a year ago? Also, an awful lot of adverts. Still and excellent source for information though.

I think the only SCCamper I've me is Recumbantman. His and mine go to the same fun, family-oriented bicycling rally in Paso Robles every year over Memorial Day weekend. (Shameless plug, that.) Last year when I ran into him up there he encouraged us to join you guys for some of your rallies.

I've been accused of being a "fish" once or twice myself. Not to worry about the Ketel One. If we run out I just refill the bottle with Smirnoff or Kamchatka or something else cheap. :Z Besides, I shake martinis. Lemon Drops, Cosmos, Dirty Ones, Konas,... you get the idea. How many of you can really handle more than 3 or 4 of those? I know. Could be a dangerous challenge there.

Nope. Not a lawyer. Not even close. Just know a website of Latin quotes that I go to every once in a while to liven up the signature.

Hope to meet you around a campfire soon.

Hmmm... Martinis? That may get me to actually stay up late enought to attend the campfire. Then again, it may make me sleep there too. :yikes:

Welcome Hoagie family
To the SCCamper world.

We have already started planning camp outs for 2009! One thing to remember is to check the boards at least 3 to 4 times a week. You could miss a great campout in as little time as in minutes! We have a waiting list already for Halloween 09'!

Gracy

I'll take one of those Lemon Drops please  :D
