weeeellll... you may have to twist my arm , but since you're new to the group and if  you go to all that work making them, I guess I wouldn't want to hurt your feelings, so I would HAVE to drink it....I'll make the sacrifice in the Spirt of the SCCampers. :p

See now, that's what I've noticed about this group: You're all so willing to go the extra mile for the newbies. That's great.

Bring your own martini glasses.

I was a cyclist. Will be there with bikes, but my older kid complains after about 200 yards.  I went to UCI, and this was where I came to unwind. It's even better now, since there is a whole network of bike trails connected to the north end of the back bay.
There is also a kayak rental place around the corner too.

I don't trust my kids to ride along traffic, but grabbing a balboa bar, going over on the ferry and back is an ideal mini bike trip. It's a deceptively long walk up the hill to PCH and back down to the Balboa Island bridge. At least with a bike only half the distance is work.  We will probably end up walking there, but I might be able to motivate the older one with the prospect of a balboa bar...

Quote from: HoagieAre any of you cyclists? We will probably bring our bikes and ride up and around the back bay.

Just checked:  no Gun Show that weekend. The bars on Balboa sound good though. With the chili/clam chowder/fried fish/pizza.....

Carl,

If you "used to be a cyclist" but the time isn't there or the kids just aren't into it, you should check out the Great Western Bicycle Rally over Memorial Day weekend. We should talk about this at Newport. This year will be our 13th consecutive trip to Paso Robles for this fun family cycling event.

Keep working and you'll find someone to go with you a Brad to the bike camp out......Heeheeeeeee
Maybe if you offer to fill the glasses after the ride and give rub-downs ......Hahaaaa

I'm sure you'll find some takers for a bike ride. The boys can always hang at cmp with us

My kids always bring a bike, but I don't, but if WE are going on a ride, I could bring a bike for me.  I think walking to balboa would be the best idea.  we can ride around the backbay...

paspilot

I'm figuring on riding the back bay- It should be the perfect ride for fat old me and my kids. Flat, scenic, no traffic.
(I've gone from the skinny guy that used to just fly up and down Jamboree road to Balboa Island, because it was faster, to the lazy lump already planning to turn around before the first hill. )

Edwin might complain, but Brian loves riding.  I might take Dee up on her offer and just take Brian with me.
An organized ride? Hmm. That might hook Edwin... I think even other kids riding along might distract him enough to moan less.
We'll see what happens at newport and can talk about other rides and see what sort of ideas everyone can subvert into my head. I am camping at a place I once thought- "Who are these people with RVs and why camp there?"  Now, I am one..

If you haven't been along the back bay I'd encourage taking a bike ride at different times of day. All sorts of wildlife to see, and just the dynamic of the tide going in and out changes the scene.  Just work up an appetite for more Balboa bars!

I'd better start figuring out what I need to do to get ready...

That's what the SCCamper family is all about.  I will be leaving around 11:30 am Sunday and won't be back untill about 6:30. and Kara gets to stay at camp thanks to her SCCamper family :D

I was laughing to myself today I was thinking about leaving a note in case of emergency and I was going to put "ANY SCCamper member has permission to seek medical attention"...etc :D
