Quote from: Hoagie;206297Yes. And as a good Boy Scout I can tell you that it never requires more than two matches to get the gasoline soaked firewood to start.

Of course, when Dee is there (sadly not this trip....who is going to make the Blue Bombers??!?!?:yikes:) it only takes one match to light the "weed burner."

Brian and Marcie,

I still need your email address so that I can send pictures.

Quote from: guinea;206627Thanks for the offer.  What I would like to do is drive over there (Saturday night) and park my truck in the CG and have a potluck with you guys.  When I called reserve america they told me that there was no day use.  I may bring a friend and my son also.

Glenna,

You were either mis-informed or didn't ask the right question.

You can come into the CG as a "Guest" and pay $10 for "Day use". It is true that there is not a "Day use area" at Thornhill Broome but you can come in on a day use permit as a guest. We have done that on every camp-out there and we are doing it again this time.

There's plenty of room in any number of campsites. I just found out that my daughter (Theresa) will be coming up Friday night and staying through Sunday (she will pay the $10 fee as she always does). However, I am sure that someone else will have plenty of room for you to park in there site. We are allowed 3 vehicles per site (including the trailer).

Thanks for the good info.  I only asked reserve america about day use.  I am bringing a friend and she will also bring something to eat.  Is that $10 per day for parking or is that for the whole weekend?

Misinformation is always a bummer  :)

Can anyone confirm that there ARE pay use showers at Thornhill?  Thanks... I'm getting conflicting information :eyecrazy:

:)

mrsoreo57

Gracy - I know that Sycamore (across the hwy) has showers but I don't think Thornhill does.  I think we only have water spigots and pit toilets.  If I am wrong someone PLEASE correct me.
See you all soon, we are leaving about NOON tomorrow.

ARE WE THERE YET ????

This is correct !!! showers are at Sycamore. Your Camping tag at Thornhill will get you in for free at Sycamore. So you just need to drive over to take a shower.
Note: Do not tell the ranger at the gate that you are there to take a shower, because we are not supposed to do that. Just tell them that you want to drive through to look at the CG. There are two shower building there so find one that's not to crowed. remember to bring your quarters.

Thanks guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!  :)

Quote from: oreo57;206702Anyone there !! what sites did you get. :morning:

Went down yesterday and drop off our PU to hold a spot. the major group is in sites 18-25, its feeling up fast and there are a lot of campers spaced in between open spots, so its getting really hard to keep the group together. There are some more spots opening up today near the group and all I can say is the sooner you get there the better your chances of being close to the group. As of last night we had 8 sites taken with sccampers. For those of you coming today from the south. I would highly recommend that you take the "10" to Hwy "1" and come up the coast route. The 101 on Friday evenings can be really bad.
