Just in case anybody is interested-

Starting this season Serrano is open year-round.  It appears that they're keeping one electric loop and one non-electric loop open through the winter.  Prices are $36 for electric and $26 for non.  As of today there are plenty of both types available.

Is anyone else crazy enough to join us?  I'm taking the whole New-Year's week off so dates are flexible.  My initial thought was to head up Sunday the 28th and stay three nights.

Planned activities will be snowshoeing, sledding, and arcade games.

Any takers?

sorry we will be at the New years rally at canyon rv

not sure I want to take a chance in having to tow the trailer in snow...the fog at Dogwood last year was scary enough

With a TT I might do it, if there was no snow on the roads, but in a PUP, I think it will be too cold...

Yep, the idea of driving in snow after last September's fog is enough to keep me off the mountain with a trailer in tow. :yikes:

Besides, I'm gonna be partying like its 2009 at Canyon RV. Here's a preview:

That night: :-() :!

Sounds like fun..... digging out our TT in the snow.....Oh yeah can't do it.... we'll be camping and partying at Canyon RV.....If you go have a good time not sure I'd want to travel the roads with a trailer.........but I bet it'll be so pretty hopefully it won't snow better bring a ladder so you can get the snow off the roof just in case.  Plus chains for the trailer??  Do you put chains on a trailer?  Not sure about that....I have a picture in my head of going down the hill on ski's slip sliding the whole way down the hill looking in the mirror seeing this big house following us,,,,,,,,,YIKES
Maybe I'll wait for Spring......Heeheeeeeee

I should have been more clear.  Snow is the whole point!  If there isn't snow we'll cancel.  Snowshoeing and sledding work much better with snow than dirt.

No ladder needed to clear snow off the roof (it's slippery fiberglass with 1:1 slope.)  Yes tire chains are required for the tow vehicle and trailer if R1 or higher requirements.  I think for just this once I'll pay the $10 extra for hookups.

That's right I forgot you have the A Trailer you should have a blast.....But us flat roof types with Ultra Light TT should really stay out of the snow I would think...Thanks for answering my tire chain question I thought one would need chains on the TT but wasn't sure and Jim wasn't home to ask......Jim's family used to have a cabin in Big Bear and I loved going up there in the winter....My favorite time of year....Love the snow! That is if I don't have to live in it...Hahaaa
Think Snow Jim and have a blast :frosty:
P.S. hook ups would be a good idea

Oh I got the point.  I just can't see camping in snow in a pup!  MAYBE with enough reflixis and heaters to make it through the night, but then towing in bad conditions, or getting snowed in, would not be fun.

Have fun make sure you take lots of pics and tell good stories!

Heck, if the last few years are any indidcation, you may not have snow...

We just got back from Thanksgiving in Big Bear.  WE went up on Wed night and it was snowing heavily.  I didn't put on my chains because they were clearing the roads.  Because of the heavy tourism as soon as 1 flake hits the ground they start plowing.  I would not worry too much about towing in the snow because of that.  Pluss there are 1000's of people there when it snows so if something did happen you would not be stranded.  Dave"Hardeepopper" and I (yes I was driving, and probly too fast) slid off the road in the snow late one nite and someone helped us within 5 min.  Just go and have fun!

My wife and I did Serrano at the end of last winter.  Temps were in the chilly 20's outside, but nice and warm inside - we did not have snow.  You can see my review here:

.......

We took the new rig up and got snowed on at the very beginning of this last big storm - what a blast!!
