Hey Dave !!! it looks you are getting a good deal on getting Kevin

Well if I adopt him he would have to go to Cal/Berkekey!!! And little Griffy needs a tutor. Just got his report card - 4 A's and 2 C's = 3.2 for a second grader - not bad, but I know with Kevin's help he can be a straight A student. :book: Just like mommy. Also Kevin can stay at MD, since I work just down the street!
Congrats Kevin!!!!

Quote from: Dee4j;206948I know you guys are tired of hearing me brag about my kids but this one tops them all so far.

Kevin scored a 790 on the SAT Chemistry subject test and a PERFECT 800 on the Math level 2 SAT subject test...hopefully this will help get him accepted to whatever college he chooses to go to.

I'm so proud....I have the bestest kids

I'm speachles........:p

Esperanza is a very fine school. But you live not too far from one of the top schools in OC - either private or public - Troy HS or enroll the boy at Oxford Academy in Anaheim - it's the number 1 school in the country - and it's a public school - I'm sure with Kevin's scores you can get him in either school.

Wow Dee.  I just told Kendra and and all she said was HOLY COW!!   Just think some day, he will be able to take care of mom and dad.:#

Student Selection
Student selection is limited to students entering seventh, eighth, or ninth grade and involves a competitive application process. After an evaluation of
the student?s past academic records and standardized test scores, eligible students take OA?s entrance examination. Each year, over 700 students test for
200 openings in 7th grade. Based on students? performances on the entrance examination, OA offers admission to the top 25 students who apply from each of the district?s eight public junior high attendance areas

Dee, a smart kid like Kevin is going to excel no matter where he is going to school. Most of our most brilliant MDs and scientists went to public school. As a parent who had to make that private vs. public school decision after junior high, I did the right thing, both for the kids and the family. Some parents looked down their nose at me when upon graduating 8th grade I said no, Em wasn't going to Whittier Christian, but I knew it was too much for us to handle financially. Now, granted, my kids aren't nearly as bright as Kevin, but he will bloom where he is planted.

One key to getting him into your out-of-area public school is find a program the school of your choice offers that your local school doesn't. That's how I did it. And it will be much easier to do because your school district never had Kevin to begin with. He's been at private school, not within their public system. He's off their radar, so to speak.

Gosh, I was crowing about Emily getting straight A's this semester. Kind of pales in comparison! LOL

Dee, I just checked out Esparanza High School's web site - they are listed as one of this country's top high school's by US New and World Report - they are a California Distinguished HS, and the school has the 7th highest API score of all the High Schools in OC.

My firm has hired on; as we always do; a summer intern who is brilliant; just like Kevin; who attends Century HS in Santa Ana. For those familiar with High Schools in OC; Century HS and all the high schools in Santa Ana, are rated at the top bottom of the 60 odd HS in OC. Yet she has her choice of going to Princeton or Harvard.

Kevin will do fine at any school.
