Yes, Shady Maple is a buffet but unlike any you can imagine.  I believe the main seating area alone seats 1200 people at a time.  www.shady-maple.com

Not trying to be rude but destroys golden corral.  Just about anything you want to eat will be there.  They make a lot of the stuff right in front of you.  Absolutely great food.  But then again I have only been going there since mid teens when we are up that way.

Also, they are not open on Sundays so don't plan on going there then.

Golden Corral is more "down home" cooking, Shady Maple is PA Dutch with other things depending on the meal...Breakfast has latkes (that is the closest I can come to an ethinic name), baked oatmeal and baked French toast as well as chippled beef and "pudding" not the sweet yummy type...sort of like the meat in REAL Mince meat (which I did have their years ago and DID NOT like), then there is the normal breakfast fare with omelet and pancake stations.

Lunch and Dinner are a lot of PA dutch stuff, and then what ever the main event is for the day...like steak and seafood, or chicken or Prime Rib, etc...each day has a different "special".  I like breakfast best...Drink is included as well as desert, just have to find the drink stations.  I LOVE the place, Raymond hates it because it is too big and he gets lost.

We either eat in the cafeteria in the gocery store or go to Dienners on US 30, smaller and less expensive (of course not as many choices but Raymond LOVES Dienner's Spatzla)

Happy Birthday to Tracy!! (belated (?)

I'm glad you people got the weather. The amount of food sounds good at Shady Maple. We've got to get there.

Speaking of Golden Corral, I was in a meeting in Dover yesterday and saw where our Colden COrral is closed...booo hisss. This Golden Corral was part of the franchise that has the one in Lebanon where we went when you all camped at Pine Grove...inquiring minds what to know...is that one closed also???
I know our Bonanzas in Southern DE and nearby MD went bust a year or so ago...all the buffets left that are south of the C&D canal will be Chinese Buffets soon...

OMG Scott, are you kidding??  Sounds like a place to visit for breakfast / lunch, and then head back to the camper and veg out under the awning in a camp chair for the rest of the day lol...

Rick, you got it about perfect.  After you leave there, it is definitely veg out time afterwards.  Of course Nic likes to hit some of the local stores like weavers and goods.  Well, when you want to come down this way some time we can go there.

Rick if you came and camped with us for Mothers Day weekend you would be able to go to Shady Maple.  You have to go there to believe it.  Also a small business owner that I know had a tour of the kitchen.  He told me he will not ear out at most places, but does not hesitate to eat at Shady maple.

Paul I am not sure why you have trouble finding the drink stations, they are along the wall in the buffet room.  In the main room and in the banquet room.

Scott do you think we would be able to get Rick to leave once he saw all of the choices?

Di you missed it again!

Ric, not only is there all the food, but the foyer in front even has a nice big fireplace.
