Does anyone know of a Duro Tire dealer in So Cal? I think it's bout time to re-tire the trailer and the originals are Duro. It's a pretty tight fit several ways.
The wheel well might have a clearance issue if the tire was any wider, and according to the weights listed on the trailer, the tires are being run at the maximum weight. The only tire with a higher load rating that has a chance of fitting are- Duros too.

I'd really like to pull the trailer in, have someone with some expertise eyeball it and steer me in the right direction. I'd like to see the bigger tire and test my eyeballs too.  Otherwise, I'll need to mail-order the exact same thing and hope I'm not overloaded.
Thanks in advance,
Carl

You'd think their website might have dealer information?? But it doesn't.
You might try calling them directly and asking if they can provide you with a list of local dealers.

Hey Carl,

We recently got 3 new Duros at a tire dealer in the City of Industry.  Jim will dig up the paperwork and give you the details if you are interested.  We had to order them from Duro and then they shipped them to the tire dealer.  They ran about $80/piece to have them mounted and balanced.  We could not find them anywhere in the L.A. area.

Thanks, I'd appreciate a pointer to a dealer.
I should try picking up the phone, and calling Duro, pester them with my clearance issues as well as get a dealer pointer, but most of the time it's on my brain, its late, late at night keeping me up...

Today, I looked at how much clearance I have to work with. On the side with the slide out, I can't get my fingers in between the sidewall and plastic lip that makes up the wheelwell. I suspect that the tires I'm on are the only tires that are going to fit. A chat with the dealer and or manufacturer will confirm this.

You'd think tires coming from Taiwan and/or China one should be able to find them on a back alley in the highly chinese populated parts of town near me, but no, they need to be shipped clear out from Georgia.

thank you both
Carl

I got my 2000 coleman niagara tires from this place. They carry specialty sizes

they have several locals. Fontana maybe closer to you?????

OC Campers

whatever you do do not buy Carlisle tires.  When we put new tires on our popup this was the brand our tire center gave us.  Both tires blew out on us.  The weight of the trailer was within the specs of the tire but the tires were junk

Here's the dealer:

Interstate Tire Distributor, Inc
6737 E. Washington Blvd.
Commerce, CA  90040-1801

323/722-0477

The tires were $58 a piece and the freight charge for delivery of 3 tires from Nevada was $45---worth every penny since we were going through a string of flat tires and haven't had one since we put on these tires in July (no other brand was any good).

Great. Commerce isn't far.  After taking a close look at my existing tires, I'm buying the exact same tire that's on there. Nothing else. I don't want to take the chance the tires not fitting. And no problems either.

Thanks again everyone,
Carl

Thanks Jeanne, you're a doll....I'll give them a call on Monday.

The guy that we bought our trailer from told us that he had a blow out "A couple years ago" and had new tires put on. The tires look like new so I never bothered looking at the date code on them. I crawled under the trailer today to check it out and found a date code of "459". That makes the manuf date the 45th week of 1999...........not exactly...."A couple years ago". Although, I suppose the place he bought them could have had them in stock for a LOOOOOOONG time...    .

Thanks........I gave this place a call and talked to "Sergio" he has my size (205/75R14) Duro in stock and they are $106 each installed, including steel valve stems.

I've had a couple of PMs asking me to inquire about a volume discount. I did ask him and he said that if we buy 10 or more, he can extend a 7% discount (not a big deal in my mind) and they don't have to be the same size. I'm buying 3 and I know of one other person that wants 3.

If anyone else is interested you can either post your interest or PM me. However, I am going to purchase this week, so please be ready to go if you are interested.

If someone can find a place that has a better deal on Duro's, please post it and maybe we can make a better buy..... :D

DONE!!!!

I found this tire place to be very fast, friendly and efficient. If anyone else wants a set of tires from them, ask for Sergio and mention SCCAMPERS. He will extend the 7% discount as he did for me.

They spin balanced the tires and used steel valve stems. No hidden costs. Mine were $196 out the door (2-tires). He inspected my old tires and found no issues with them. He suggested keeping the same spare for about 3 more years then replace it. The only thing that I didn't care for is that they would not service my wheel bearings.   . He said that they had too much trouble with taking the old bearings out and having a very hard time finding new ones if the old ones were not serviceable. I can see his point   because that could tie up a stall for days.

Although the "Tow Masters" tires were indeed 9 years old, they looked in very good condition. No cracks anywhere. I was a little reluctant to post that comment because I would never advise keeping trailer tires that long. Normal life expectancy is 5-6 years. I hope that I get that good service out of these Duros.
