We were in Long Beach Harbor area for the day and I saw a sign pointing to "campground"... unfortunatly we didn't get a chance to travel over there to see what the campground was but I'm assuming it was Golden Shore... anyone have experience with them?  They look a bit on the expensive side and I didn't see any group rates???  Anyway just wondering what the feedback is from this group :)

Thanks!

drove thru there once to check it out. I wasn't overly impressed unfortunetly it was over a year ago and I can't remember why.

I looked at their web site and it looked OK/nice their rates now are $50.00 per night and summer rates will be higher.  They only have 80 sites so it could be hard to get us in as a group.  Also looks like they cater to monthly people another thing to look into is are they pop up friendly?  Maybe someone knows more about the place.......

Mary and I stayed their a couple of years ago. We found the CG to be very well kept. It is a small CG, but I would recommend it for someone wanting to be close to that area. But as stated earlier, it is to small for a group of sccampers.

I have a client in the building across from the campground -- yes, a building across from the campground.  It is a nice campground, with a pool, but all I ever see are really big boys in there.  I would say the only reason to stay there would be if you had something in the immediate area to go to (convention center, etc.) and wanted to stay close.  It is adjacent to an offramp of the 710 freeway on one side, Golden Shore Drive on another, the riverbed/ocean outlet on the other, and a swampy area where the ocean has been pushed back on the other.
