Coleman Roof Height adjustment

Harvey, our 2002 Fleetwood is getting shorter with age.  I have had a hard time getting the door to line up with the lock nuts when I set up.  I need to raise the roof about a 1/4" I think.  I have read the lift manual, and doesn't look to hard to deal with.  Is this something I could do at the CG while the trailer is fully set up, or is it better to do without the ends out.  Also does the roof have to be supported when you adjust it?  Or can you adjust it up with out it?

Dkutz,

You can do it at the CG but you have to raise the roof about a foot up, pull the bunkend out a little and lower the roof so it is resting on the bunkends.  If you have set up it will be almost like breaking camp.  So I suspect you might find it easier to do at home or where ever you store your PUP.

Here are some pictures that explain how I adjusted mine. You may also find reading this entertaining.

Hope this helps.

Thanks thats the EXACT problem I am having.  Couple questions.

Why move the pin?  I thought I would be able to get enough adjustment out of the bolts at the wiffle tree.  My understanding is it moves the roof a couple inches when you move the pins.

Second to adjust the bolts why do you have to rest the roof on the beds?  Can't you get enough slack when closed to do the trick??

He Ruide

Dkutz,

I would encourage you to try moving the four pins first because is very easy to do. If you compare my before and after pictures you'll see it just gave me the small increase in height I needed.

wavery

It just doesn't get any easier than that...... :D

I would recommend trying the pins first.  You need to support the roof on the bunkends as earlier stated.  Good luck with the project.

Ruide good photos.  They break it down very nicely.:)

Got it fixed!  I went back out and raised the roof again, and gave it a little shove, and wholla.  She is just right 46" all the way around.  I guess maybe the cables had a "memory" in them of the height they were at before.  Just glad I didn't hav eot mess with the wiffle tree.

Anyway, easy fix, quick only took like 20 minutes to switch the pulleys.

all and all a good day, got the PUP fixed and the Mustang Running again!! yeah!!
THANKS!!
