We took delivery St Pattys day...
We did a fast rescue out of a high kill shelter with the help of a few people I had never met face to face, she changed hands 3 times that day to come stay with us...We guess between 4 to 6 yrs old..she has small signs of malnourishment, but we can over come that..A very sweet Aussie girl. We named her Keely

Very cute. As a dog lover I say more power to you. Wish more folks would do that. Tnx for sharing.

Fantastic!  She's got sort of a Shelty face.  What a great looking dog.

There are so many very special dogs ,put down every day in the US.Thank you for saving this one's life. She will become all the reasons you saved her.Just go slow with here and let her adjust to you.Give her lots of attention, good quality food (purina one),warm place to sleep, and she will soon....come to feel like she truly has a loving home...

I work with a National Rescue Group, and we see many good dogs never given the chance. We are afraid with the economic situation, that there will be more.

Again,thank you,and enjoy................Jim

Jim, for being with us a few short days she is adjusting pretty well. We also have a 2 year old Aussie who was also a rescue at 5 mos. The 2 are getting along pretty good. Koda (the 2 yr old) has moments of jealousy and barks , but  it's easing up. She is a sweet mellow girl, Kodas polar opposite.

We feed grain free and have since we rescued Koda, he get major gas from grained foods, so Keely will be on the same diet. (Taste of the Wild)

If I had the time, space and money, I'd probably rescue all I could..

Marcy, what kind of food do you feed your pups?  I have a jack russell mix that can clear a room.  I feed him and our other 2 dogs a good quality food (Canidae) but whew nothing seems to help him.  Btw, all 3 of our dogs were adopted or rescued.  The Jack russell was found at about 5 weeks of age shivering in a bush, my Aussie mix was adopted thru a rescue 11 years ago, and my boston terrier mix was rescued from a less than desireable home.

Taste of the Wild I rotate the flavors with the exception of the fish one because I don't like the way it smells (yeah I know, I'm not the one who eats it). We went thru 3 foods before we settled on this one..We also fed Wellness Core grain free (fart free too!)until they kicked the price up to almost $50 a bag.

TOTW is reasonably priced and they eat less than grained foods.

Excellent info on the food.

I've always been big on Flint River Ranch, but it has a lot of wheat in it and our 4 yr old Queensland Heeler (Australian Cattle Dog) seems to be allergic to it and was shaking her ears alot.  They do make a fish and sweet potatoe, but instead I went out and tried California Natural's herring and sweet potatoe, and then another comparable brand that was salmon and sweet potatoe from Petsmart.  She liked the salmon and I should have stuck with it, but I try to support the local pet supply store instead of the big box store, and all they had was the herring.......wicked ugly gas from that.

I see from the TOTW sight, their food is sold at Farm Supply about 2mi from me.  Perfect.

For those not feeding their dogs these top dog foods, really consider it.  They eat less, poop tootsie rolls instead of piles of mush, and their coats get beautiful.  Well worth the investment.  Read some of the labels on your current food, and you may find your food contains corn as a main filler, animal poop (dried animal digest), fur and hair.  Nasty, nasty stuff.

What a beautiful dog.........you did a GOOD thing.......what goes around, comes around.... :D

Thank you.  I will go over to my Animal Nutrition Center where I buy their food and see if they have any of these brands.

UPDATE:  Just looked at the Taste of the Wild website and they sell it at the store I buy their food at.  Super

Dean, so sorry about your girl. It always hurt to loose a pet.
The right one will surface some day.

Koda my first Aussie rescue was gotten about a month after I had lost Shadow, a super fantastic mutt that lived to 16. Coming home to an empty house sucked ..

Keep you eye on craigs list and petfinder, Koda was found listed on petfinders classified ads and the new girl was listed by someone who lists pound dogs on craigs list. Something interesting I found out was Keeley was scheduled to be put down just days after we rescued her. It would have been real sad to see such a gentle dog put down.

Marcy congratulations on your new girl.  She does look sweet!  Those that have had the pleasure of camping with KC, our rescue dalmatian, know that there are many wonderful rescue animals out there.:)

Okay, picked up some Taste of the Wild today.  Got the salmon and sweet potatoe verson.  $10 for a 5lb bag.  I like the list of ingredients.  No barley or oats like my bag of "California Natural Herring & S.Potatoe" contains.

Thanks again for the tip.

she's adorable..congrats!!! and thanks for saving her
