Hi Guy's

It was good to see (almost) everyone. We had a good time ,regardless of the weather.Like Chip said, that's all part of it.We will try one more trip this year, most likely to North- South Lake ,but we will make that call depending on the weather, etc.
See you all soon

Andy + Helga

DiW

Glad you guys had a good time. We haven't been able to get out this fall  Andy, I hope you can enjoy North-South Lake without frigid weather, haha. We had a great weekend at N-S this summer. I highly suggest you switch seasons ;). So much better without snow.

Life is hectic here. My mom somehow broke her ankle in 3 places and needed surgery for it - but doesn't remember doing anything. Obviously, memory problems are more serious than the ankle. This came weeks after having spinal surgery and a neck fusion. My brother's helping her out & I'll be taking over when she gets out of rehab hospital.

J is studying in Europe this semester. Unfortunately he came down with the dreaded flu. Luckily they got him on Tamiflu within a day but not unexpected, he wound up fairly sick. Then they put on antibiotics for pneumonia. Today he called as they were sending him to the hospital for more tests (EKG, etc) as he's getting worse, not better. It's hard to be across the pond as they say...

Sorry Paula and Nancy, seems you ended your weekend with troubles of your own.

Di I am sorry to hear about J and your mom.  Is J doing any better?

DiW

Hi Tracy. Received a call from J today. He's doing better. Still taking antibiotics and having chest pain, but the cough isn't "as gross" in his words. He's back to class or will be in the am. I have a feeling he's been hedging with the antibiotics because he mentioned he needs to mix the powder with a liter of liquid 3 times a day... He's made plans to go to Belgium next week and England next month so that's encouraging... I think I can go put my passport back in the safe deposit box, haha.

Hope all is well with you.

Loving this weather and this season. Somehow the turning of leaves makes me incredibly happy. 'Tis the season for pumpkin and apple pie. Have already been bundled in blankets at soccer games. Not sure if Chris has been enjoying autumn as much. He cleaned up 5 buckets of acorns today from our gutters and front yard. Court got out and enjoyed Octoberfest :! while I stripped bathroom wallpaper.

Hope all is well with you and yours. Enjoy the rest of your camping season (oh, wait. I think with you, it never ends ;)

Di I am glad to hear that he is doing better.  I too enjoy the fall weather.

Hey all!

Haven't been online in a while hope everyone is okay...

Andy do you know which weekend you might head up there??

DiW

hehe Rick, you sly one ;)

dademt

Hey Rick, I see you have gone completely to the dark side with the hard side camper.  Good luck with it, I am sure you will enjoy it completely.

copcarguy

Hey Di - you are the winner lol.

Hey Scott - I really had no choice going to the dark side.  There were not enough places to sleep in the Tacoma.  My Dad built a small cot thingy for the baby which was quickly outgrown.  We didn't fit anymore, and I got really tired moving stuff from the dinette to make that into a bed, and then off the counter in the morning to use the stove, etc...  The new TT has a queen bed, bunk beds, and a couch and dinette that can make more beds.  It is really big though.  I had to trade off some NL sites that I simply won't fit into anymore for the convenience of having everything in the TT.  Also, we have been going on further and further trips and you can't pull over in a PU to take a nap at WalMart, or even to take a break and make lunch inside.

Andy - any NL dates??

tlhdoc

Rick I posted a question for you at this link in COTOC.  Will you please provide me with an answer.

Hi everyone, hope you're all doing ok.

Hey Rick
Was really hoping for some decent(somewhat dry) weather ,but I guess it wasn't meant to be.Last weekend was a total washout and today/tommorow is another storm coming and it's  the last weekend that NL is open. This sucks.
Hey, how about another winter trip? Now that you moved totally over to the dark side.Just don't use the TT's facility's,wouldn't want them to freeze up again, lol. I know a KOA with a really nice WARM shower house.

Andy

copcarguy

Hey Andy...

We went to that KOA in July for almost a week and it was so different than the last time we were there.  They added basically a whole new "parking lotty" area of sites on the right and tons and tons of cabins on the left side.  It easily almost tripled the size of the CG.  It was fun being there in July, in the pool and on the rides.  I even commented it was nice having the a/c on instead of the furnace and two ceramic heaters lol.  It sure did beat melting 40 gallons of "stuff" in the black tank in freezing Feb weather.

I am up for a winter trip, but will have to see what school / kid schedules allow.  (wow Di, I can finally relate lolol!)

DiW

Rick, it only gets worse as life gets more and more complicated (but fun, too). Now is the time to think this over. You have options. Raise them to be strong and independent, with opinions and goals of their own and you support them - or raise them to obey and do as you say, because you say so. My father liked that last one. Other favorites of his were "kids are to be seen and not heard" and "If you do something, do it right." All he ever really wanted was "peace and quiet". Obviously I didn't follow his approach, but I acknowledge that life would have been simpler if I did.

I actually thought we might get out for a quick trip this weekend. I discovered mid week that Kels' soccer game was to be played last night and no soccer was scheduled for this weekend. But after last night's game in the pouring rain, and today's forecast for more of the same, I decided to not even mention camping. I don't like snow and I don't like rain. So instead, I went out today and bought some foam and hope to redo my diningroom chairs tomorrow (after Kels' bball game, of course).

To all those with little kiddos, enjoy this coming week(end). I've always loved Halloween but truth be told, I'm glad I no longer have to make the costumes. I'm praying for nice weather. It's going to be a very busy weekend around here.

DiW

Turns out maybe we didn't blow it, after all. We tried to expose the kids to lots of activities, hoping they'd find something to interest them. Hopefully they'd enjoy camping and sightseeing... We never had a chance to take the kids camping when they were small. I thought we got too late a start to instill the camping bug but maybe not. Courtney has been complaining that "no one around here ever wants to do anything. All they want to do is go to bars and clubs on the weekends." I suggested she enlarge her circle of friends - but my kids never actually consider MY suggestions. She was convinced NO ONE likes to do things she likes. But last night she was all excited that one of her HS buddies wants to go camping (imagine that!) and someone at work was surprised that she camps and likes to go hiking...  Definitely not the typical corporate office discussion topic, but maybe she can change that...

Now Kels, being younger, has had more years of camping with our group - bringing many of her friends throughout the years (introducing them to camping)...Not sure I'll ever convert Jason into a camper, but he does seem to enjoy traveling. He just got back from Belgium and Berlin. London's in a few weeks. NOT camping but hostels. After sleeping in the camper all these years, he says he can sleep anywhere. When Court was studying abroad in Italy and her group went to the Capri area, they stayed at a place where the working bathroom was in a separate building. ALL the kids complained and Court was surprised. She was like "haven't any of you ever camped before?" Apparently not.

copcarguy

Hey Di...

I think you guys did a good job.  I look forward to seeing you all when we have a trip planned.  I enjoy hanging out with you guys.

I get asked literally every Wed if "we are going in the camper this weekend".  If the answer is yes them we have to discuss how many days it is until the weekend lol.  DS says he likes when the furnace kicks on because it "feels cozy".  I hope DD becomes an outdoorsy girl.  I have fun looking at her in the stroller - she seems to enjoy looking up at the sky, clouds, etc.  I love seeing the wonder in her eyes.  We are on the verge of talking this week.  We have DaDa, MaMa, baba, and a very vocal "whoa" sound when something cool happens.

Life's a trip...
