For those not going to the San Eligo campout, I am going to wagon-master an alternate campout on the same weekend.

This is the one time a year where Calico Ghost Town  actually becomes a ghost town.
Bring the whole family for a hauntingly good time. Enjoy costume contests, pumpkin carving, ghost stories, and trick-or-treating for the little ones. And if you dar. . . take a chlling stroll through Maggie's Haunted Mine!

Admission: Adults: $10.00, Juniors (6-15) $5.00 per day; Children 5 & under are free;

We will be staying at the  KOA of Barstow across the Hwy. They have a free shuttle bus to take us back and forth. Heated pool and free Wi-Fi. Full hook-ups $41.85 per night.
I have 10 sites reserved so let me know if you want one. After the 10 sites are gone it will be a self-serve rally.

Edited on 4/13/09
All 10 sites are now taken, if you would like to join in on the fun please contact KOA at (800) 562-0059 and ask for Donna. Tell her that you want to join the sccamper (Lopez) group and make your own reservation. Or ask to be put on the waiting list and take your chances.

I would like to propose a progressive dinner in place of the traditional pot luck for Saturday night, here is how it would work.

Each family would sign up for one segment of the dinner and we would start at one trailer and work our way through dinner going from trailer to trailer....
Does anyone have a "theme" they would like to do? For example, a "Mexican" theme or the "Thanksgiving" theme...etc...any suggestions?

Appetizers: Chez Way, - Oktoberfest appetizer platter and We'll bring French Toast.

Salad: JamesDad, - green salad

Soup: CJPoppin, - Weisse Bohnensuppe (better known as soup).....also will have a sour dough bread

Main Course: Hardee's, - brats with beer and sourkrout...or maybe german hot potato salad and  french toast casserole for breakfast.
Main Course: 58air, - sauerbraten
Main Course: Recumbentman, - meatballs on bed of noodles and an egg dish for breakfest

Dessert: Darksiders, - Black Forest Cake
Dessert: Glenna, - German chocolate cake for dinner and potato latke's for breakfast.

We have 8 families...How about two families for Dessert, three for main course & side dishes and one each on Appetizers, salad and soup....any takers?

This is to close to home for us to pass up and I've always wanted to do Calico when they get it turned into a real Haunted Town.  Put us down for a spot.....

Just looked at the KOA site and it says "Tent on site (available with charge)".... do you know the details on that?  How many tents you can have per site and what the extra charge per tent is?

Funny  :D when I read about the tents on the sites, I thought about you  ;)  The deal is they will allow a tent on the RV site, but the limit per site is 6 people and you can have only one tent. They don't charge for the tent. they charge for the extra people on the site.

Chez Way

Brad,  We are definitely on board for this one!   Please sign us up.  Thanks for getting this going.

Wow good job they have the last 2 spots...you filled it!! :-()

I'm going to stay on the waiting list for the beach. I'm not a big fan of the desert, it would be cheaper and easier to get Kevin to the camp.

Gracy Gracy  :eyecrazy:
I am not a weather guy (they don't even get it right) But summer ends in Aug/Sept. So normally October is a nice month, but there is no guarentee's. This is a Sccampers rally and you know how we always seems to bring out the best in mother nature  :D
So I know that Barstow is closer than Lake Isabella  ;)  are you taking a site or wussing out  :yikes:
