Slow guy again...
How do I get the photo I've uploaded to appear beneath my user name.  I have reduced it to 100 x 100 pixels as directed (actually a bit less) and it shows up in the Profile Picture section of the Avatar section of my user cp.  I've unselected Avatar and selected yes for the picture but all this does is stop the former Coleman logo I was using from appearing.  Any help out there?  :banghead:

Welcome Mr. Slow Guy!

Try switching to "no avatar"  and see if that'll remove the coleman banner.  (You don't want that anyway because let's face it, Starcraft is a much better brand *dives for cover*)

Okay, looking at my settings:
"Do not use an avatar" is not checked
"use custom avatar" is checked for "yes"
"use profile picture" is checked for "no"

Avatars need to be 80x80, so maybe at nearly 100x100 yours is still too big

Thanks for your advice, it was helpful.  I can see it now as a custom Avatar on my usercp, just can't seem to get it to load with my messages.
Oh yeah, I'm choosing to over look the Starcraft comment.  Hahaha

Hey, it worked.  Nice to put faces with names!

A tapping stick (also known as a BFH) is always the right tool!

When you are right you are right.

(For the uninitiated who may also be struggling with my previous dilemma)

I failed to mention in my last post that I also discovered that during my struggle to post a picture of my lovely bride and I as my Avatar I had inadvertently unchecked my ability to view Avatars in the OPTIONS section of my usercp.  This prevented me from seeing anyone's Avatars in the forum posts including mine.  So even though I had successfully created one, I didn't know it because I had turned off the ability to veiw it.  Finally used "Tapping Stick" on self to correct this problem... worked! Hahaha

As I said go to the USERCP PAGE this is the OPTIONS window and then half way down the page in the POST ELEMENTS section under THREAD VIEW OPTIONS.  Select all of the radio buttons on the right for the elements you wish to see when you read the forum posts.  Whalah!
Glad thts settled. :)   Now, where did I leave my Pop Up?........:eyecrazy:

OK, Pete.  You seem to have this whole 'Avatar' thing figured out, so now I ask: how do I fix this problem with my Avatar?  I went into my usercp and on to 'edit avatar' only to find the little bubble checked that says 'don't use avatar'. Now I can't figure out how to uncheck the thing. :banghead:  There doesn't appear to any way to undo this mistake I made. So.... how do I do it?  Your help in this matter would be invaluable!!!!! Thanks in advance.:!

Hi Steve,
I'll tell you what I can and hopefully someone who actually knows what they are talking about, like Austinado16, will see that I'm trying to help someone and rush to your rescue. :yikes:

 Here's what I suggest:
This mostly applies if your were or are trying to use a custom Avatar.
Go in to the Avatar settings and clear out what ever is there.  In other words delete your Avatar (being sure you know how to retrieve it) ;).
In other words clear it out and start from scratch.
Now see if you can deselect your button Don't Use Avatar button.
One thing I know from my frustrating experience is that when the "Don't use Avatar" button is selected it removes your custom Avatar (I know this because says so below it).  So even if you deselect it you would not see your previous custom Avatar in your byline.
Next you will need to reload your Avatar and then make sure your button is not selected or you'll be doing it again.:)
I nearly left out something important.  BE SURE to use the Submit modifications button/s after all changes, including when you deselect the Don't Use button.    Hope this helps.

Steve,
Just out of curiosity what does your handle infer? I only ask because I dry buildings for a living so your Waterdoctor handle caught my attention.

Regarding the avatar question, I was only trying to use one of the 4 default avatars (Coleman) but can't even get those to appear since, I assume, the Don't use Avatar button is set.  I tried resetting, but to no avail. :eyecrazy:  'll keep trying, though.  As to my handle - I work here in the desert of the Imperial Valley in California as an irrigation and water conservation specialist + I'm a Soil Scientist by academics and experience.  I've been using the Waterdoctor handle for about 30+ years now. Ya know, it all started with CB radios? At least that's what I'd like to think. I've been working with farmers in the West for over 30 yrs on various on-farm water issues involving irrigation water quality, conservation and management methodologies.  It's been a pretty fun ride, so far, but I'm getting kinda tired and am thinking about going into teaching at the college level once I retire from here in about 4 yrs. :-() Anyway, that's probably more info than you asked for.  I always tend to get a bit long winded. :cake: Thanks again for your help with the avatar question.  I'll keep banging away at it 'til I get it resolved.
