I wanted to add an extra 12v light on the ceiling of my pup just over the kitchen table, and need to splice into the existing wiring from a light that is about 4 feet away. I there a way to drop down the existing light and snake a wire through the roof  to where I want to put the new light? Anybody done this?
Thanks, Alan

How 'bout instead of more 12v lighting you install either a battery powered fluorescent, or some of those "touch" style LED lights?

I done just what you are wanting to do in my popup. What I used is a white plastic raceway like they use for running wires on the surface and it has a stick on backing. You can get corner fittings for it also. Most building centers have it like Home Depot, Lowes etc.  What I did was to take the fixture in the camper loose from the ceiling and make a notch in the edge of it for the raceway to enter it. Then just run the raceway to where you want the new fixture and install wires into the raceway. Splice into the existing fixtures wires and install the new fixture. I installed two fluorescent fixtures in my popup, one over the table and one over the sink.

There is a foam core between the ceiling and the outside roof material. So you should be able to remove the existing light fixture and then snake something into and through the foam to your new location. Once you have tunneled through the foam, you just run your wires through it and you are set.

When I installed a TV antenna on mine I was able to run the coax between the roof panels. I only had to go about 12". I used a stiff wire (coat hanger) to bore through the foam. I don't know if I would try 4' myself but I'm sure with enough patience you could get it done.

Thanks to all for your ideas. I ended up dropping down the existing light from the ceiling. This exposed a hole in the ceiling and about an inch of styrofoam insulation. I used an old CB antenna to bore a hole through the foam over to the spot in the ceiling where I wanted the new light. Used a hole saw and bored a second hole where the new light was to go. Pulled out the antenna, taped my wiring to the end of the CB antenna and fed it through to the new hole. No problem, took about an hour for the whole job. Works great, thanks for the ideas!!!

Excellent work!  Aaaaand, you didn't run the hole saw drill bit out the top of the roof!  That's even more excellent! :D
