favorite knife- I just get lonely camping without a good knife. Right now my favorite is a SOG sealpup 4" belt knife... nothing like whittling to pass the time on a rainy day, and that knife holds an edge.

It ain't camping if I don't have...

good firewood.

(And that's getting harder to ensure up here in the northeast. That darn emerald ash borer has shown up. The NYS dept of environmental conservation has put a ban on MOVING any firewood more than 50 miles.)

I've been thinking about the EAB. What if you had some way to remove the bark? It lives just under the bark. If no bark it has nowhere to hide?

my "gotta have it" item is probably the air mattress.........if i don't sleep well that will throw everything else off as well..........

my other thing is the AC better work !!.........SCmomma

Used 2B PopUPTimes

After 11 years of testing products for review in the magazine I think my favorite camping item has to the Barely Roughing It picnic table covers. They are the only product we reviewed and still use on every camping trip.

hoppy

Hopefully without repeating the obvious (don't have the time to read four full pages of responses) but # 1 would be the PU, # 2 would be Hoppette, and # 3 would be the beer. Everything else I could improvise substitutions, or just do without.  :!

After our 1st. Pop Up outing, a couple of weeks ago, with the hot weather (no A/C yet), we found that the best thing we had and will never be without from now on, is our COUNTER TOP ICE MAKER.  To all you purest, I'm sorry but it was a life saver.

AZCAMPPINAL

we've been out a few times,  so far,  we have found the things that made the trip more memorable,  are....
the canopy,  i don't have an awning yet, and I am not sure I want one the pop up canopy is great, thick top so no sun comes through.
the AC  sine I am south texas,  and  the water was 100 degrees.
red neck golf game,  washers game  best fun ever.
  collapsable  trash can!   super great.
crock pot.  easy and  great for breakfast casserole.
those little clips that hold down the  table cloth wish i invented that!!
cards.  puzzle books.
portable dvd player for the rainy days and late nights.

I am looking into a projector and an inflatable screen, one that does not require an air pump. we'd bring the playstation 2 (i refuse to move my Wii out of the house)   would like to invite the new neighbors we camp near for a movie night.
