Dawnne had surgery on her foot again yesterday, all went well, hopefully its fixed for good this time.  Wheelchair again for the summer!  yeah fun...

 Heres her recount of events...

The surgery went a little longer than expected but my doctor says that everything went well. He ended up having to put a plate in held in place with 4 screws. (That brings the count to 9 screws and 1 staple)He said that there was a ton of fluid in there and that it just poured out when he made the incision. At least I know we got the right spot this time. He had wanted to use the scar from the first time but wasn't able to. Like I care about having another scar on my foot. I now have a HUGE cast on my foot. They gave me a pain block so I can't feel a thing. My brain is telling my foot to move but it just won't budge. It is really a very strange sensation.

We'll all be praying that everything goes well this time. It must be terribly uncomfortable for you......

How are the boys handling all this. Even though I tease Dieter, I know that he's a great help, especially with the kids.......he's a great Dad....

You TEASE ME???  Never!!  All the boys seem ok with everything.  They are very concerned and checking on Mom all the time to make sure she is ok.  We'll see how it goes.

Now I have to pack three Bikes a wheelchair AND crutches for all upcoming Campouts.  The Smithwoods rally should be interesting.....

It sounds like this surgery could have done the job at least we pray it does.....We are glad Dawnne will be able to make the camp-outs Now I know why it's just you and the boy's coming to Mugu on the 21st.!
Hang in there Dawnne I know how much fun those wheelchairs can be/NOT...and crutches are even more fun.......Jim and you can compare the amount of hardware you have in your feet while sitting around the fire.....
Remember to have those boy's fetch and carry I know they will take very good care of mommy.
Get Well Soon......carol and jim and pickles too.......

Those screws are most likely worth more than our trailers.:yikes:

wow cool pic..thanks for sharing..hope your recovery is going well ..see you in a couple od weeks

dkutz

The recovery is going as expected. It is a long, slow process but hopefully this will be the last one. As of now I am still completely non weight bearing. I expect to stay that way until early Sept. Hopefully, by then, I will at least be able to put slight weight on it with the two crutches. It is usually about 9-12 months total recovery time.:banghead:I go back to my orthopedic surgeon on the 22nd. Maybe there will be a miracle and everything will be totally healed by then. I am not holding my breath though. I guess it is a good thing that I am so darn stubborn. I am determened not to let it slow me down. Camping, Disneyland, Legoland, Housework...you name it and I will do it.:p It is amazing what you can do in a wheelchair or hopping around on one foot or on crutches. All I have to do is put my mind to it and I can do it!

Can't wait for Smithwoods!

griffsdad

Dawn, get well soon, we are all praying that the surgery will be a success and it will be your last. See you at Smithwoods.

Freedom_5

Dawn,
We too have you in our prayers for a speedy and lasting recovery. I will be rearranging the Halloween sites so that you don't have to walk very far for all the fun stuff! In fact I think I will put your trailer in the middle of everything! Im only speaking for myself but Im sure that others would say the same thing. If you need to use the bathroom, use ours in our trailer. That way you don't have to walk up and down the stairs.
