has anyone had any experience removing black mold from their popup? I just opened up my popup for the first time this year and found a little black mold on the canvas and mattress.

Hopefully it isn't really, "Black Mold". That's a very dangerous mold to deal with and should be done by professionals and probably best to just replace the canvas.

Assuming that it is common mold.........a 10% bleach solution sprayed on the material and left to sit for 20 minutes (keeping it wet with repeated applications) will kill the mold. Rinse the material well them wash it with Woolite and a soft brush.

Be sure to wear gloves and wear a mask until you've effectively killed the mold. Especially if you have allergies or Asthma.

BTW..........................

thanks Wavery. I guess it's not really "black mold" but rather mildew. My terminlogy may be wrong. It doesn't appear to be too bad. It's just going to take some elbow grease.

Mold/mildew.........same thing. It's a living organism that you don't want to breath in :sombraro:......... Bleach...baby...bleach....:-() It's like a miracle......you hit mold with bleach and it just simply dissolves. However, if the organisms have had a chance to damage the fabric, you may still have some black residue. In most cases, it just simply dissapears.....:)
