I've updated the first post with some additional attendees. Marcy's dad will be joining us for his 5th rally and her brother will be driving over from Phoenix to join us again for his 4th rally.
The friends that first got us going no longer camp. They'll be staying at a local hotel. And another family will be joining us as well. It looks like we'll have a pretty good size group.

Because we ride every day there will be no breakfast potluck. The last thing you want is a stomach full of eggs when you head out on a bike ride.:eyecrazy:
Some days we stop for lunch during a ride rather than return to camp. Sunday we usually hit the deli at Sylvester Winery for meats, cheeses, fresh-baked bread and wine. Dinners -- Thursday night we will probably go out to a local restaurant, maybe A.J. Spurs. Friday and Saturday night we at least try to coordinate meal time. One of these nights often is a "gnosh night" where everyone brings out whatever finger foods they have, opens a bottle of wine, and we all just enjoy. Sunday night is the BBQ, where all campers bring their food to grill, enjoy some live entertainment and just relax.

We will be arriving Thursday morning to better ensure our group will have enough space. Where we normally set up there is water, electric and grey water dump available. Please bring extra hoses and power cords if you have them. The utilities are spread out a bit.

If you can let me know what time/day you expect to be pulling in we'll make sure we are there to move vehicles, guide you in and point out hookups.

Don't forget Marcy will be teaching a yoga class Friday afternoon. Plan on attending.

If we can go, we'll be tent camping..Lugging the trailer, solo, is not one of my favorite thing to do.  The dilemma I have is my daughter age 7.  I think I will be divided if I have my son (14) and daughter (7), to figure what things we can do together will be very difficult...IDeas...I 've never been...? Am  I correct about the difficulty.  If I can have her stay home and only my son and I go, that will be the best case scenario.  I am talking with her friends about that.  My husband has to work Fri, so that is not an option.

I am 50/50 right now and I will decide by this Fri.

We'll bring dessset.....and of course something to BQ  YUMMY

I justed checked the forecast and it looks like we should have some great weather.
Chance of showers on Wednesday, but after that nothing but sunny skies. A warming trend is expected that could peak in the low to mid-80s by Sunday. Overnight lows are expected To be in the high 40s. Great camping weather!

Now if the wind gods would just cooperate and take the weekend off......:p

darksiders

Where will you be at the fairgrounds, if we come lookin fer ya?

Muddog, we will have to meet since we're staying in the same cg!  Welcome to SCCampers!

let's all chant: NO WIND, NO WIND, NO WIND (OK nobody eats beans for dinner! hahaha!)

Hoagie

Hey guys,

That would be great. We are camping at the north end of the fairgrounds, adjacent to the Sheep and Goat Barn. You enter at the gate on 21st street and then wind your way through the fairgrounds.

There is a link to a fairgrounds map on the GWBR website http://www.greatwesternbicyclerally.com
Look under "Camping and Lodging"
We expect to be out riding every day until early afternoon, so evenings are going to be best to find us in camp.

Hope to see you up there, but if we don't hookup have a great trip!

Recumbentman

What a great weekend!  The weather is warming up to 90 yesterday, riding has been great, today we take in the wineries by bike...Karen & Wes came by for a visit..on bike.  Shirleen & Son are here with his broken foot, it has not stopped him...we took them out on the recumbent tandem to tour the town.  We are at breakfast, but anxious to get back to camp and get riding again!  Hope everyone is having a great holiday weekend!

Hey Brad.....you'd be so proud of me......I went out and bought a recumbent bike yesterday.....:sombraro:

Chez Way

Although I was only able to make it for one night at Wine Country RV it was well worth the trip.  The weather was perfect.  Started Sunday brunch with 58Air's Eggs Bennie and yummy pancakes.  We went to the Firestone Brewery for some fresh brew and enjoyed it with homemade pizza from a backyard pizza oven at our Paso friends' house last night.  We topped it off with a fun bike ride this morning.  We really like this campground and will probably be back again next year for Memorial Weekend.  Glad to hear everyone else enjoyed the start of summer!!!  Next camping trip for us is Mammoth/Reno/Tahoe for a week.

Hoagie

Yep.  Another fantastic weekend at GWBR. I think we rode just over 100 miles in 3 days, a pretty decent total. Spent more time visiting wineries this year I guess.

Great having the folks from Wine Country RV come by for a visit. Good to see you and glad to hear you enjoyed your weekend too.

We rode through some beautiful country. Rolling hills covered in vineyards, alfalfa fields, horse pastures or just open vistas. Weather was fantastic although it did get warm on Sunday's ride. Stopped and enjoyed wine tasting at Tobin James, River Star, Niner, Wild Horse, Jan Kris (home of Ben Hogan Wines) and Sylvester. We just didn't have time to stop everywhere we wanted!

For the 5th year Marcy offered a free yoga class for all Rally participants. Thanks to all the SCCampers that attended.:#

"Gnosh Night" appeared to be a big success with everyone sharing whatever appetizers and libations they had. At least everyone appeared to get enough to eat anyway. The Sunday BBQ was less of a success this year. What do you do when the guy manning the fire pit refuses to add enough charcoal to get a hot bed of coals??!!? We could have used Dee to light a fire under him! I guess next year we'll just bring our own grill:(

Anyway, thanks to all that attended. I hope you all had as good a time as we did. We already have it on the calendar for next year. See you at GWBR 2011, Memorial Day Weekend!
