They don't know what they are missing

Our reason for going to the campgrounds is we enjoy being outside. However, if we had one of those bigggg rigs that would all change - they're niiiicccccce inside.

I've had my popup for a few years now.  My brother just got a big travel trailer.  He says he should have bought a popup because everyone just wants to hang out inside the travel trailer.  He has to push them outside.

LOL

After owning a popup for 3 years and a Hybrid for 4 years, we are currently camping with a 34 foot class A Motorhome, and when we see people camping in a popup, I comment to my wife how I feel sorry for them and how ?They don?t know what they are missing? ;):D

6Quigs, that is too funny!  I guess this is one instance where the grass is greener on your own side of the fence.  ;)

Well, from a "dark side" point of view, we have a 36 foot 5th Wheel towed by the Ford F250.  We started with a PUP and due to my husbands continuing downfall of health, it is much easier on me with the 5th wheel.  Granted I have to do most of the setting up, but after that is all done, we sit outside and read with the dogs chained up near by, or have the boombox on for music and/or news.. It is also so much nicher to have a bed that is already made up and not have to do that when we get to the campsite like we did with the PUP.   Don't get me wrong, we really enjoyed the PUP, it just Sal's bad health that moved us from the PUP, to the Hybred and now to the 5er.   We are not like those people that you never see, even though Sal MUST have it satelite TV.

I bought my PUP because I felt it had enough comforts yet was still primitive enough to feel connected to nature.......I want to be able to be outside as much as possible when camping......I don't care what kind of camper you have or how big it is........I do care if you never leave it or even set up a table and chairs outside........I do not understand that nor do I consider that camping.........but they have a right ( and reasons of their own) to live how they choose........they paid for their site so they can do what they want while there......Who am I to judge?......SCmomma

ps......what really annoys me is when they give a CG a bad review due to the TV or WiFi reception.......arrgghhh!!

the grass being greener in this discussion depends on how green the inside of your wallet is. i'll bet 90% of us campers look with a little envy when a bigger ,newer, nicer rig of any type rolls by........we do it with houses,cars,boats.....i know if i could afford it i would upgrade from a p u.............o k let's hear from the 10%

We loved tent camping till we just couldn't do it anymore then moved up to the pop up and loved that too..... Except both hubby and I have bad backs and it was getting to hard to set up and take down.....We now have the TT and Do We Ever Love it...... Will we ever get anything bigger?  No won't happen the TT is paid for and unless we win some money just won't happen......
As for people staying inside their rigs maybe just getting away and looking out the window at different sites and reading, sleeping and watching tv is enough for them.....I still love to sit out under the big blue sky, dark clouds,rain/whatever the day brings and enjoy the great out doors.  Visit with family/friends roast marshmallows over the open fire look at the stars.  Cook outside and watch kids play......I love to Camp in our RV......
Dee I too hate being gas'd out by big Motor homes must they run it all day or why don't they get the pipe that vents it higher?.......
This just about covers it for now.......see ya down the road:-()

I'd like to have a big one and a little one.

I love our revived Coleman Brandywine. It has no toilet to clean, no sink to clean, no stove to start a fire on....it's great! Actually, there is a sink, just not usable. And a stove, we don't have the propane lines hooked up.  I have a camp kitchen from Cabela's that I set up outside my PUP. It holds my drinking water container, camp stove, has two cupboards that are pretty much critter proof (zipped up canvas), holds my cookware and all plates/utensils etc.  Once the camper itself is set up up, I just love setting up my kitchen.  I guess it's like playing house for me.   We cook and eat outside 99.99% of the time. Once, it was late and raining and we ate in the pup after cooking on the camp stove under the awning. It just didn't seem right.

I will say this though: my hubby and I have looked at toy haulers for the future. We want to be able to haul Harleys and ride from our campsite someday.  I don't think I would completely live inside, though.

Whoever said they are constantly chasing people out of their RV is so right - the kids always want to be in my SIL's TT.  We do have to chase them out.

Happy camping to everyone - no matter what your gear, just being together and having fun is what matters.

I am even greedier. I would like to have a three quiver setup. :D

1st a popup cabover camper (winterized like the outfitter). This would primarily be used in the winter for chasing powder.

2nd would be an off road pup (rt 14 or evolution series). This would be my primary spring/summer/fall setup for mountain biking, fishing and swimming the Nor Cal back country.

3rd would be a Travel trailer or some other bigger trailer for those "right" situations!

With all of that said, I do often wonder about the people in the big rig next to me at the campground who I never see the whole weekend. Oh well, to each his own!
