my 2 cents makes it 4 cents...

after some conversations about this my kids and other kids have said that people were telling them to stop running by their campsite. they were not running in or thru their campsite they were in the street..

Hey All,

I personally am leaning toward either Lake San Antonio or Lake Nacimiento. I am in conversation with both places to determine which best fits our needs.  Both areas have full hook-up sites, but we might consider just the water/electric site areas to be more convenient to the water/activities and group features/fire pit.

So chime in;

1.  Do you like the idea of either of these lakes, if so, which one looks more appealing.

2.  Would you be willing to have a water/electric site only if it was more conducive to a group setting?

More info to come after I hear some opinions.

Thanks,

Bonnie

Naciemento is pretty empty right now, so unless we get some good rain this winter it will be worse next year....  Not sure on the other lake

If they have a honey wagon I'd do W/E only.  For 4 nights it's not too hard for me, but it might be for those who travel with more folks.

Bonnie,

My understanding about Lake Nacimento, is that it is full of power boats, loud power boats, rowdy crowds (not to say that we are quiet), but the type of rowdy they get there is not good for our children in our group, and I also have known in the past that it is first come first serve on campsites, no reservations at all.  It would not be our first choice ever.

In regards to Lake San Antonio, we have no personal experience with this place.  In post #29 JohnandLeann mention this lake and maybe they can give all of us a better understanding of what the amenities that they might offer.

Naciemento I know my friends go to water ski and jet ski...temps seem on the HOT side

cjpoppin

Well I won't talk about the heat because it doesn't seem to bad to us...Hahaa
Except we do enjoy going to some place a little cooler.....With our luck we would hit those high temps......Also don't want to end up at another Vail Lake type camping.........We too would like to have full H/U  we also tend to stay longer and most likely will try to go somewhere else??  Never sure about these things.  It's also the summer of our 40th anniversary and we've talked about going to Alaska.  So guess we'll just go along with the group sorry I can't be more help,,,,, Bonnie I know this must be such a big job and you'll find the perfect CG......:eyecrazy:

Hoagie

We'd be good with W/E only as we have a trail-behind dump tank for dumping grey water mid-week.

It's been years since I camped at Nacimiento and I've never been to San Antonio so can't offer opinions there.

It's true that it has been very hot in this area in the past. However, over the past few years the average summer temperatures having been trending down a bit. No guarantees it will stay that way of course.

Some "experts" are saying we can expect an El Nino winter this year. That could change the water levels in the lakes as well as the temps next summer.

JohnandLeann

Quickly looked over some of the posts here and both of these lakes are very low and the water is nasty.  If there is not much rain this winter the lakes will be out of the question as it gets VERY HOT there in the summer months.  There is some group camping at San Antonio with water and elec with a short drive to the water in the day use area.

miss kathy

i was at Lake Nacimento a couple of years ago and it was over 100- it is really hot and the campsites are hard to get into - the road is very narrow inside of the campgrounds and I don't remember much shade.
Lake San Antonio sounds like a better place
