Quote from: JohnandLeann;216934I agree Wayne on the WDH  part.  I would never tow anything that large without it.  I am questioning the way a bit but I have used a 3/4 ton in the past when I was much younger and borrowed from my father with no problems.  I think we are at the limit with this unit as well.  Had a smaller one in mind, but when we saw this one, it was all over.  I tried to stay under 25ft and 5,000lbs dry with 500lbs tongue and it just barely qualifies.

Rich we do plan to sell our very used pup.  We did not trade it in.  We need to get our stuff out of it and clean it a bit too.  Want to get it onto Craig's List by the Holiday weekend.  That would be great if you could go by and check out #71 for us.  I looked at the pics of the site and it looks small indeed.  We were not planning for our upgrade at the time of reservations and just wanted to join in on the fun.

Don't kid yourself John, you will have a tongue weight in access of 600#....trust me. "Dry weight" means little. When you actually weigh the tongue (fully loaded for camping) prepare yourself for a shock. Although, with a WDH, I think you are OK to 750# (check your manual, or it may say right on the hitch). My bet is, that trailer loaded will go over 6,000#. Dry weight does not include any accessories. The trailer is usually about 500# over dry weight when it lease the lot (empty).

I'm not sure if Jim has weighed his trailer or not. His is about the same size as yours. He has a HD 3/4T Dodge Ram so he may not have.

Just a thought.  When Pete & Linda sold their pop up on Craig's list, Pete set the table with flowers and two wine glasses and a bottle of wine.  He sold it super fast and credits that pix for many of the inquiries as well as the final purchase.  (Pete says it's because all of the wives found the romance appealing; I'd have to agree...though I like to think that at least some of the husbands were sold by that as well...what can I say - it's the romantic in me!)
:p

Happy selling!!!!!!!!!!

YEAH!!!:-()

JohnandLeann

We are seriously considering dropping out from this rally unfortunately.  Our new trailer is going to be too much for the site that we have.  We did not get our first choice in the feeding frenzie that was the opening day for reseervations and had to settle for a smaller second choice spot.

Will wait till the last minute to cancel our site.

Does anyone want site 71?  Max drive lenght is 20ft.

Toby

Hey John and Leanne, congrats on your new TT, your going to the other side I see, I will talk to my wife and see if shes up for going, dont want to cut in front of the line of the waiting list, In case you dont remember we were the ones that took your extra site on the last dohney trip last year, as luck would have it I'm staying at new port dunes the week before with boy scouts but were staying on the group sites in tents, I'm dont like sleeping on the ground starting to get old I guess,  take care Rob & Leanne.

I don't think that Dee or Hoagie will fit in that site. In fairness, I just sent Hatlet a PM......If they aren't interested, the site is yours (if Dee & Hoagie don't want it either) if John and Leanne cancel.

I put your name on the waiting list. What size is your trailer?

Toby

We have a 12' Jayco pop-up, folds out to about 24, I think it should be fine as we can turn it side ways or even fit fine with the back tires up to the end of the pad.  I of course would be at the back of the line in the waiting list and will check with my wife but am sure she is always ready to go, thanks for the reply, Rob.

I think it's going to be too smal..besides I have to work...my plans to see the group on Father's day weekend might be axed also:(

With the addition of the storage box on the rear bumper we are about 24' ball-to-bumper and 27'3" opened up. So we won't fit either. Bummer for us.

Hatley has bowed out due to other plans.....:(

Before you bow-out Dee and Brian, consider this. The limiting factor in site #71 may be the concrete tire stopping block. I believe that it's 20' from the street.

My site has a 17' max trailer length (the block is 17' from the street). We are 24' open. However, the distance from the rear of our tires to the very end of our trailer (fully open) is 15'. We have a 9' overhang, rear of the trailer tires.

You may want to check out the picture of site #71 here:

It may be worthwhile to take a drive down and check it out, if you really want to come.

JohnandLeann

I am taking into consideration your suggestion about the rear overhang and the limiting factor of the rear axle tire against the concrete bumper.  I just cant tell from that picture they have provided if the fire ring is too close to the trailer or not.  Guess I should have measured the distance from the rear axle tire to the hitch ball first.

I'm 29 ft from bumper to tongue not sure the distance from the back to my tires..I have to work anyway
