Okay, I give up trying to figure this out...what does it mean to "sticky" a post?? And how's it done???  I'd love to help out but don't know how to do it.

Thanks,
Malena:compumad:

When you go to the SCCampers forum, you will notice that the threads at the top of the page are "stickied".  These threads are stickied so that they stay at the top of the forum pages and don't disappear down into the forums as more and more posts are added.
Only moderators can do the stickying.

And you forgot to add that it costs $$$$$$$$$$ to stickie a post.

The moderators will only do it for people that they like.........so maybe if you ask the moderator to sticky the post in question, it might happen....:sombraro:

And the moderator is the person that starts the thread, right?  How much does it cost to sticky...I'm just curious.  Oops!! Not curious like a cat!!! Just wondering...okay, I'm shuttin' up now!!

Nope. Moderators are shadowy figures that have been granted god-like powers by beings unknown. These powers include the ability to sticky posts, delete/edit/close and do other mean things to posts, and make other changes to frightening to mention here. Cost for 'stickying' a thread is up for negotiation. All fees are paid to Waverly, who promptly forgets that he received any fee and where he put it.

Oh,yeah. Some of them are also well known for Blue Bombers and Fire Starting. Among other things.:D

The person starting the thread is the "Original Poster" or OP for short.

There ya go, clear as mud.

That's just another way of saying, "The fees are the same as the dues".......zilch....nada......kaput.......zip......manana.....I forgot the rest.....:sombraro:

Malena,

Okay, enough screwing around. (You've probably noticed by now that there are 1 or 2 or more SCCampers that do that a lot. I'm not naming names now,  but there are a few of them.....errrr.....us.)

From Wikipedia a Forum Moderator is defined as follows:
The moderators (short singular form: "mod") are users (or employees) of the forum who are granted access to the posts and threads of all members for the purpose of moderating discussion (similar to arbitration) and also keeping the forum clean (neutralizing spam and spambots etc). Because they have access to all posts and threads in their area of responsibility, it is common for a friend of the site owner to be promoted to moderator for such a task. Moderators also answer users' concerns about the forum, general questions, as well as respond to specific complaints. They also can do anything to lend a helping hand to a user in need.[17] Moderators themselves may have ranks: some may be given mod privileges over only a particular topic or section, while others (called 'global' or 'super') may be allowed access anywhere. Common privileges of moderators include: deleting, merging, moving, and splitting of posts and threads, locking, renaming, stickying of threads, banning, suspending, unsuspending, unbanning, warning the members, or adding, editing, removing the polls of threads.
So they do have quite a bit of power. But someone has to be responsible for controlling the silliness on the forum. Actually, this forum is pretty laid-back and mild. I've visited other forums where the moderators have to close threads and even remove them to keep members from beating each other to death with their contentious posts.

HTH. And don't let our funnin' around distract you from the task at hand. Eventually someone will come in and actually give you a serious answer.:D

And there are no fees. If fees were collected, Wavery would be on a cruise every week. (He's the semi-official SCCampers treasurer.)
