arghhhh, was planning to take my comp days attach them to the furlough days and spend a wekend camping and then drive the kids formt he campground to school to get a few days to ourselves.

Canyon RV was our choice, but they only have 8 spots left and they aren't really what we wanted, nothing else in the area seems available...

any ideas out there....?

If I don't get camping soon....  man I hate this time of year.  Even the boys are burned out...

How about Caspers?

I think that is too far to drive, especially to take the kids back and forth...but I will look in to it.

Yes, and northbound traffic on I-5 in the morning would be ugly. Then you'd have to take the 405, which is worse, or pay on the toll road. Nevermind. Caspers might not be such a good idea. This is all assuming you'd be heading to somewhere around the south end of the 55, right?

Then again, depending on what time you hit the 55 southbound that could be a parking lot too.

Any chance at getting into Newport Dunes for a couple of days mid-week? Not sure about the current restrictions on trailer types, but how about Bolsa Chica?

My daughter loves Bolsa-Chica. Her DH will park the trailer down there for her sometimes and she will stay there with the kids for 4 or 5 days while DH commutes to work from there.

I've never been there........

Have you ever tried Prado drove through it once. Has some nice shade sites. Used to be a ranch next door (smell), but that has been removed. But I really do not know much about it.

We stayed at Prado some years back. It was "ok" but not a campground we'd rush back to. We were there about 3 or 4 years ago. The dairy farm next door was closed, but no one had told the flies yet. There were still other dairies in the area, but they may all be gone by now.

The other things that stuck in our mind is you can hear the local shooting range all day long, which was not a big deal to us, and you can hear the announcements, chimes, bells and at one point, sirens, at the local prison just across the highway. Again, not a big deal unless you are looking for peace and quiet.

Of course, Prado is going to extend that daily commute to the boys school quite a bit.:eyecrazy:

Jim and I drove up to Wrightwood today( May 23rd) to check out Table Mountain and found it would not be good for a Sccamper rally.  The sites are not set up very well for Trailers....Lots of one way roads with the sites going the wrong direction for trailers to back into....Great for Tents.....There are good sites but it would make setting up a rally way to hard we'd be to far apart.  It was a cold day ( 30 deg.) with light snow falling the trees were so pretty with a light dusting of snow......Made us wish we were camping......Is it June yet?

ARGH!  I have been watching Craigslist and Reserveamerica for campsites for the weekend I want to take off....  Found a hookup site at San Clemente SB, but by the time I got DW approval and got back on it was gone!!  argh..  The gods are not with me...
