Great to hear that everything is going well for Wes! What hospital is Wes staying at? When will he be released?

Karen and Wes--My mom had a triple bypass (80%, 80%, and 90% blockages) 6 years ago after having a heart attack, and we semi-joke that it was the best thing that happened to her! When we were trying to decide whether she should have an angioplasty or bypass surgery, the doctor explained that the angioplasty would cure the symptoms she was having, but the bypass surgery would add years to her life. The choice was obvious at that point.

I'm so thankful that Wes did not have a heart attack or stroke, and we pray for a speedy and full recovery. God is good!!! Once you feel back up to camping, Wes and my mom can share surgery stories. ;)

Thanks for all the well wishes, thoughts & prayers.
I saw Wes last night briefly.  He was sedated and intubated, but all things considered he didn't look too bad.  They have since taken out the breathing tube and say he's doing very well.

Lori, thanks for telling me about Wynn.  We feel like the best choice for Wes was the bypass surgery and it's encouraging to hear that Wynn did so well taking the same route.

Wes is at Providence Little Company of Mary hospital in Torrance.  He will be there for 3-5 days.  He's still in ICU, so no visitors/gifts will be accepted.  As soon as he's in a private room, I'll let ya know.

thanks, again, everyone

Good to know that all is going smoothly.

We know that "Little Company of Mary hospital" is a fine hospital. I believe that it's the one on Torrance Blvd. & Hawthorne Blvd is the main cross street. Having grown up in Torrance, I recall a number of trips there, mostly for stiches. Two very special times were the birth's of my two boys there!

Hi everyone,
Wes is still doing well, however, he didn't get much sleep last night due to a lot of activity in he ICU.  He slept much of the day only getting up briefly to eat.  He did look much better by dinnertime.  They also removed all of the various tubes he was connected to.  It also looks like he will be getting out of ICU as soon as they can find a vacant bed.  If you would like to visit Wes, so please give me call, so I can let you know that it's a good time.
We do have one more concern that I would like to ask for prayer:  His EKG when he was admitted was abnormal, showing some sort of issue with his heart's rhythm.  They are concerned about a condition called "Brugada" syndrome. Wikipedia describes it as:  "The Brugada syndrome is a genetic disease that is characterised by abnormal electrocardiogram (ECG) findings and an increased risk of sudden cardiac death. It is also known as Sudden Unexpected Death Syndrome (SUDS)" The doctor is going to run 2 tests tomorrow to hopefully rule this syndrome out.  As you can imagine, I'm worried, but trusting in our Lord to take care of Wes.
hugs & love,

Wes came home yesterday afternoon. However, we've had a bit of a set back.  Wes is back in the hospital.  Last night at around 11:00p he began to complain that his heart was racing and he couldn't sleep.  The poor guy is exhausted, he hasn't slept for 3 nights.  We went to the ER at 2:00a and he was admitted again.  They took some tests and discovered that he was anemic.  While in surgery, he was borderline for a blood transfusion, so they decided not to give him blood.  I guess with the added stress of moving about while coming home, his heart had to work harder as a result of the anemia, which caused the palpitations.  They have given him 2 units of blood and now his heartbeat is much lower and he's feeling [and looking] better.  I hope now he's able to get the much needed sleep.  They want to keep him overnight as a precaution.

I sure hope that Wes is home and resting now.......

There certainly is no resting in the hospital. I practically checked myself out when I was in there a few months ago. 2 days of that was all I could take.

We are praying that Wes is home and healing well.

How is Wes doing?  How are you doing?  This may sound funny but I take a lot of comfort praying for you while I care for Heather.  I hope and pray he is feeling better.
