After shocks centered under seeley, that is about a mile away from us, that's where the girls are going to school at the moment. We felt one good aftershock this morning, I want to say it was around 4:15am. The kids and wife have been nearvous. Me, I'm not too worried about us. I think I would rather be in my RV during these earthquakes, although from what I can see we get a somewhat amplified movement. During one aftershock I could barely feel it on the ground, but could see the camper swaying front to back.

My wife has mostly been worried for her mom In Mexicali. I guess her sister stayed at her mom's house and they stayed in a bedroom that had an exterior door.... just in case. Her brother and some of the kids slept in their car so people are afraid to be inside. I know as of last night they were still without water or electricity I have not heard on the status this morning, my wife calls her mom after every aftershock.

Actually what I find most frustrating is not being able to find information about the quake other than what everyone has already heard. I guess there was not enough devistation for the news to give it any interest.

Here's something one of my coworkers found.

DNO, I think you're right about the media. Unfortunately, the Imperial/Mexicali Valleys don't seem to rate much attention

I'm glad to hear you guys made it thru OK. From what you described it sounds like you're address is at Rio Bend.

Your close, rio bend is down the road a bit, we are on the other side of the interstate at Sunbeam Lake. thanks for the link.

:sombraro: Yup - I know exactly where that's at. I go by there often on my way to Mt. Signal area to check fields.  Looks like a nice place (from the road). It looks like the aftershocks are slowing down quite a bit. That 5.3 at oh-dark-thirty this AM was a real wake-up call.  There's several road closures, mostly at bridge crossings over the New River in the SW part of the valley, making it difficult to get down by Mt. Signal.

Well so much for INCOGNITO.......:)

I like the layout of Sunbam Lake vs Rio Bend, we drove through rio bend a few years ago when we were visiting down here. Also a few years ago sunbeam lake was not very busy, this year during the same period it was full, now things are thinning out however.

Looks like there was more damage to the pool area than I first thought. I went by yesterday and it was full again, but, it looks like the tile edge was damaged there are several chunks missing and there seems to be somthing wrong with the deck. the office was closed yesterday so I could not ask about it. I did go into the laundry facility at the clubhouse to recharge our laundry card and there was a bunch of water on the floor, hopefully that was from the lagoon and not from a leak in the plumbing.

I think my in-laws have their power back now. I felt an aftershock last night, but I don't remember feeling anything this morning.

I'm sure you're aware, but if not, that road just outside Sunbeam is closed northbound to Seeley. But you can still get to I-8. If you try to get to Camacho's for their good Mex food, you might have to take a bit of a roundabout route to get there. It looks like LaBrucherie is open from EC south, you could go into EC then backtrack a bit to LB and head S to Wahl, then W to Camachos. I'm sure you've eaten there. Yummmmmm!!! :p

When I first heard about the Drew road closure, I understood that the closure was south of Sunbeam. The school called about the bus pickup and drop off change and mentioned that it was closed between sunbeam and Ross. I normally drive the girls to school in the morning but they take the bus home. I was thinking that with the road closed there I would have to go out of my way to go one mile to the school. Turns out the RV Park has a gate on the east side of the park that I can get through to get onto Drew so it's too bad.
