Well folks, it’s a sad day. Long-time staple of the pop-up camper industry, Coleman of Somerset, PA, currently owned by FTCA has closed it’s doors as of Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 3:00 pm. It still remains to be seen what will happen. Coleman campers have been made in Somerset since 1967 and the factory employed 300 people. FTCA, owned by Blackstreet Capital took over the factory two years ago from Fleetwood RV. It is unclear at this time whether or not Blackstreet will look for a buyer or choose to cut their losses. FTCA has been hit hard by the recession along with many other RV manufacturers and would appear to be the latest victim of these very difficult times.
