I have a close friend that has made camping arrangements at Lakeside on Kentucky Lake, in Kentucky.  Has anyone stayed at this CG and if so what are the thoughts?

Regards,

Hi Corey.  AB said we couldn't leave you hanging so I came to post a hello to you.  Sorry I don't know anything about the campground.:)

Regards,

PopupSgt, I camp a lot around Kentucky Lake, in the Land Between the Lakes and don't know about Lakeside, what city is it near?  I mostly camp at lake access areas and almost always get a site right on the lake.  There are a lot of developed campgrounds in the Land Between the Lakes such as Hillsman Ferry and Piney CG...operated by the US Forestry Service and while they are nice for family camping the lake access areas are great for dry camping and a $15/yr permit allows you to camp.

Check out //www.lbl.org about what to do when you get there....a lot of things such as the Elk/Bison range, the nature center, the homestead and tons of trails and fishing.

If I can find out where Lakeside is I will be glad to check it out.

I have pictures of the Elk at //www.lmack.org

I hope your friend enjoys his trip to LBL.

Lakeside CG is on HWY 68, not far at all from Aurora, KY.  There is boat access within the camp ground, as well as public access across the road from it.  I've never stayed there, but have passed it many times, and it always looked pretty crowded, and cluttered (lots of permanent sights) from the highway.  We always go to either Hillman's Ferry at the north end of LBL, or Piney at the southern end.  Both of these are very nice family campgrounds.  Well maintained, clean facilities, private beaches, nice bike trails, playgrounds for the kids, and both have live bands on Saturday nights throughout the summer.
