Need good campsite in Arkansas for July?

Hi!
I'm new to this board. We have a little Jayco pop-up and want to put it through it's paces! The most we've camped so far is one night and I'm anxious to really make a camp (for my partner, this involves putting up the canopy, getting out the flamingos and putting up the tacky lites!)  

We are looking for a place to camp in Arkansas. WE ARE BRINGING one or two 14- YEAR OLD GIRLS, so we have to have something to entertain them (fishing would not go over big as entertainment), yet keep it remote enough to call it camping. Preferably in the Ozarks near water, but we're open for suggestions!

We just returned from a week at the Dam Quarry Campground just below Norfork Dam - close to Mountain Home.  The river is beautiful and full of trout.  But this place is pretty isloated.  We also like Bull Shoals-White River State Park.  We love JFK at Heber Springs.  It is on the Little Red River and right below Greer's Ferry Lake.  Dam Quarry and JFK are Corp of Engineer Campgrounds and Bull Shoals-White River is an Arkansas State Park.

Ditto on Bull shoals state park.  I am an avid fly fisherman but my wife and kids have not complained yet about going there.  Beautiful park and river...also close to the lake.  You can rent sit on top kayaks and canoes.

Call ahead and get a preferred camp site next to the river reserved.  It's worth it.

We in Arkansas are blessed with beautiful places to camp. Some of our favorites are Lake Dardenelle state park,Lake DeGray state park and Village creek state park. They are all close to towns where you can take the family in for the day but also the parks have some fun things to do! Enjoy!

Try Petit Jean SP. The waterfalls are incredible. The hiking trails are great. The view from the top of the valley is incredible.

If you want a campground that has cooler weather you can go to Mt. Magazine State Park in Paris.  It's usually about 10 degrees cooler than the surrounding area.  There is a small swimming/canoeing lake about 10 minutes away at the bottom of the moutain.  Beautiful views from the top.  about 2,900 ft in elevation.

We live in Texas, but make a point to get to Albert Pike campground which is about an hour or so west of Hot springs.  It is ontop of a mountain (range) with a shallow and slow moving moutain spring/river running right through the campground.  The kids can get out and wade in it and it only comes up to their knees...its very family oriented and there are great hiking trails.  We try to get up there about every 2 years.
