I was disappointed in Oak Mountain State Park's camping area.  This park is the largest State Park in Alabama.  We had spent a week in FL and stopped at Oak Mountain for two nights on our way home.  I should have been tipped off when we stepped out of the van and I almost stepped on a clump of moldy spaghetti noodles!  I grumbled and walked up to survey the site and help DH with placement.  I looked up a bit and saw a squirrel with no tail!!  I should have insisted we go home right then!

The camper was invaded by ants and while there were only a few at first, their numbers grew steadily.  I even had to kill a roach that got in the camper! Eww!

The bath house, while not crowded at any particular time, was out-dated and tiny. One shower and only two toilet stalls.  One stall was minus a door, which at times made the little girls uncomfortable.  It wouldn't pass a handicap access test.

One plus, if you can call it that, the bath house did have a laundry. And there was a big sink in a closet that you could use to wash out oversized cooking items and dishes.  But I was once again reminded how trashy people can be when I went to wash something and was confronted by pasta noodles in the drain.

We will not go back. I'm still trying to get the ants out of the PUP!
It's a shame because it could be a great campground. You just don't see any money being put into it. But the golf course looks fabulous! sheesh!
