Could anyone recommend  a campgroup near New Orleans that is still in the countryside with nice facilities.
 Planning to go late july

sarasotamikeIt s across the causeway, but we stayed three nights at Fountaine Bleau State Campground two years ago and drove into New Orleans Daily.  Very nice facilities. Friendly rangers--one let me use the second phone line after hours so I could hook up to the internet.

There were two RV parks in town.....OMG....the one we had reservations for was essentially in the courtyard of a horseshoe shaped motel that looked like it rented rooms by the hour.  I went to the office/liquor store and one of the guests, a toothless wonder, said, " Oh this is much nicer than the one down the road. Someone stole my bicycle at that place."

With that recommendation, despite having spent hours driving heavy traffic from Galveston that day, we headed out of town and drove to Fountaine Bleau.  Our perspective might be skewed by the experience.

This may be a little late for your trip, but there are several state parks within easy driving distance of New Orleans.  You can go to the LA State Park website at //www.lastateparks.com.  I live in the area and would recommend St. Bernard State Park or Bayou Segnette State Park.  Both are within 15 minutes of New Orleans.  Fountainbleau is really nice, however it is about 35 minutes.  You have to cross Lake Pontchartrain, which can be an experience.  All of the LA state aprks are nice, clean and the staff is real friendly.  You can check availability and make reservations by clling 1-877-CAMP-N-LA.  If you have any other questions or are planning other visits to LA, feel free to contact me at paul_kimball1@bellsouth.net.  I have visited every state park in L and can give you feedback on all.  Happy Camping
