 All,

Just received my screen room by CareFree. It seems to be a lot lighter than my Coleman one did for my Sadona. This also has more netting instead of cloth. We will try putting up on out trip to Otter Creek next week. Will write more up on it.

whitestar505

whitestar505As stated I have received the CareFree screen room, Box was a little bigger than I thought it would be, or differant that the Coleman screen room.

Open it up and it has poles which is all I need these days. More poles[: (]. The instructions say that this comes in three peices. Some drilling on the crossbar for the awing is required and some bracket need to be placed around the Awing carrier itself. Looks scarry to even get into. Of course the trailed has to be poped.  The instructions have a lot to be desired. List of tools is a lot. I just might just do this at Otter Creek CG next weekend. By that time I might have dijuessed the instructions... Will be back, maybe....

whitestar505Let us know how it goes . . .i am still debating what to do about an AAR - I may just skip the whole deal at this point.

 whitestar505All,

Not doing to good with this item. I keep reading the directions and looking at the illustrations and not understanding where or how they put this . might have to call them. They are showing a CareFree awing with the screen room which is differant that the Coleman. Have to do some drilling which I am not happy about. They want you to do some on the colman also but you do not have to in order to use it.[:o][: (][&:][>:]

whitestar505I wish I had pictures of my Carefree AAR installation.  They did require a few drilled holes, but recommended putting caulking in the screw holes where you install the brackets and the snaps.  I remember the directions weren t too good, but I was able to figure out how to install it.  Any questions, e-mail me and I ll see if I can help.

whitestar505at first I thought it was a popup screen room - like the spring loaded ones.

I bought a Carefree (I think) awning and screen room when I had the 95 VW EuroVan Camper.

Bought it from KKK RV (you KNOW that added to the price) and they charged me $250 in labor (that was in  98).  They said it was a labor-intensive job. I believe the total bill was something outrageous like $750!!!

And then I found that ones I was set up...I couldn t go anywhere without taking everything down.  That s why I bought a popup....but now I find I have to modify my camping style and stay put longer cos of all the hassle.  Some people are NEVER satisfed.[>:]

whitestar505i was thinking of getting the sc reen room for my carefree campout awning...is that what you have????  did you get it to work and why would you have to drill???  i thought it zipped on...i have a zipper on my awning.

Gamecock Camper

 whitestar505Jo Ann,

The Carefree awning I have DOES have a zipper.  Before I bought the AAR I was certain that it would attach using the zipper, but I was wrong.  The AAR is attached using spring loaded poles that attach between the awning s end and the camper.  The poles have ends that secure by sticking into the new holes you have to drill.  You also have to drill and screw in snaps that the AAR (and probably the screenroom) attach to.  The AAR ends also have velcro flaps that wrap around the PU s lift posts.....

To answer your question, no I have not got it up yet. Every time I start on the screen room the rain comes down. At one time I was ging to put it up at camp but we have canceled three trips now. When I don t know.

Jo Ann

whitestar505geeze...now i am not sure about the screen room...does it alos zip on???  if not then why is there a zipper on my awning?  also...does it have a screen for under the camper box????

Jo Ann

whitestar505whitestar...did you get the awning AND screen room...or just the screen room?

whitestar505

Yes, we still have not got it on the trailer. It looks okay, and not to bad in weight.

At this point in time I do not know what to tell ya.

With  a second thought, I would try it. Just make sure you can bring it back if you do not like it. Who knows, at this rate you might have it up before me.[:)]
