We are looking to start the season early (for northern IL anyway) with five days or so in April. We like state and national parks, this early in the year electric sites, hiking, historic places, and scenery.

 Any suggestions?

 Thanks,

Venatic

CampaholicsHi Campaholics, sounds like the start of an AA meeting. The first place I would start would be [link=http://www.mostateparks.com/camping.htm]MO State Parks[/link] website. I don t know what area of MO you re looking to go to, but this will give you a start. This is the first year that MO has online reservations. So, if it doesn t go smoothly, you ll know why.

 CampaholicsGary and Carol,
I am unrepentant, and I havn t had a camping fix since Labor Day.

Thanks for the link to MO State Parks.  So many parks, so little time.  What works out as a reasonable drive for us will be anything within about two hours of St Louis.  I clicked on Merramac SP.  They have an extra cool feature, photos of the sites.

 Thanks,

 The Campaholics...

CampaholicsBabler & Washington State Parks are also within 2 hrs of St. Louis.  I think Babler is the closest.  We re camping there Memorial Weekend.  They have horse-back riding, a small visitor s center with a mini-nature center, museum that kids would like (if you have kids) and it only takes 10-15 min to go through.  It s close to Six-Flags and there is a mini-railroad that runs on sun only but it might not start until May.  Let me know if you stay there and I ll find the website for you.  My granddaughter loves it!

It s close to Six Flags and major highways.  Hawn State Park is in St. Gen and there is an historic town section that would interest kids and adults.

All of the State Parks have the click-on links to see each site, way cool!
