In mid-June, 2004, we spent a week at Robertsville State Park located about five miles south of I-44, near Eureka, Missouri (Six Flags over St. Louis).  The camp ground was quiet and looks to be less than 20 years old.  The showers were the best I have ever seen in a state park.  We were surpirsed that even though we were about 45 minutes from downtown St Louis, the park remained relatively empty all week.  Shade was the name of nearly every campsite.  We reserved our site online where a photo of each site was available.  We will use this park again when we return to the area.

St. Louis Zoo (free)
Grants Farm (free but $6 to park)
Gateway Arch (free unless you want to see a movie or go up still inexpensive)
St. Louis Metrolink http://world.nycsubway.org/us/stlouis/ light rail public transit (The secret is park in one of the free park and ride lots. North Hanley is good, and near the airport though about one hour from Robertsville SP. You can shop at Union Station, visit the zoo (with a walk) go to a Cardinals game or visit the arch and do many other things within a short distance from the system.  Plans are to expand several miles southwest in the next two or three years.

Hey popupcop,

Thanks for the review!  I live within an hour of RSP but have never camped there.  Sounds like I need to check it out!
