Friends of ours are staying at the Little Valley Mountain Resort/Timber Top Log Cabins in Sevierville July 9 - July 16. We would very much like to go visit them while they are there.

Obviously, we will need to make reservations for something immediately. We would like to be somewhere quite close to where they are staying if possible. Some folks have already recommended staying in the Wear's Valley Road area, and Clabough CG has been mentioned.

Does anybody have any experience with the CGs in or around Sevierville/Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg who could provide a recommendation for a good CG?

Thanks in advance for your help.

We had the Eastern Rally in 2002 at "Little River Village" which is pretty close and was a nice CG.

If you do go to Little River, the sites on the river are really nice.

Their website is //www.littlerivervillage.com

It is one of our favorites. We try and go at least once a year, even though it is a 4-5 hour drive (long for us).

Hi:

You may have already tried this or even found a place but we live in Knoxville, TN (less than 1 hr from Sevierville) and were just in the Sevierville/Pigeon Forge area on Saturday exploring some of the campgrounds there.

The ones mentioned seem to be nice areas.  We are considering Clabough's for our next camping trip to Sevierville and, in fact, picked up a brochure while we were there.  Everything in it is on their website.  We had considered Little River Village also, as it looks nice, but be advised, it is in Townsend, which in on the other side of the mountains from where you come in thru Sevierville and Pigeon Forge, actually quite a drive, especially with the incredible traffic that is always present in this area.

I would recommend that you "google" "Sevierville, TN Campgrounds' and "Pigeon Forge Campgrounds' which will give you several results and you can explore them online.  Depending on where the cabin your friends are staying in is located, there are about 15 or more campgrounds in the Pigeon Forge and Sevierville area and more in Gatlinburg and Townsend.  It all depends on what amenities you are looking for, but there are a lot of them to choose from and this was the best way I found to narrow it down.....Good luck and enjoy your trip.

As soon as I saw the title, I thought Little River!  The 2002 rally was, IIRC, the first official pop-up-times rally.  It was a great place, met some great people, some of whom are still friends even after they moved on from this board.

Anybody want to go tubing down the river?

see my recent post on campgrounds in the Smokies. We much prefer the backside of Gatlinburg, away from all the tourist traffic jams, though it will put you a little further from your friends, here's betting they'll want to come visit YOU at Crazy Horse or Greenbriar Island

Bean...where did you end up staying? We are going to be taking a week-long trip to Pigeon Forge and Clabough's was the campground that stood out to us, based solely on our research on the web. My husband said "go on that pop-up board and ask them"...so here I am. We actually like being close to the attractions, just so long as there are no train tracks right next to our site (don't even ask, lol).

Thanks!!

My folks camp at King's Holly Haven on Wears Valley Road every year.  We have stayed there also.  It is a nice, clean, quiet campground but close to the action.  However, the sites are small and there is not a lot of shade.  I've been through Claboughs and it had a lot more shade and seemed nice.

We have camped twice in the Sevierville area. We stayed both times at Riverside RV Park and Resort.

It was a quiet and peaceful stay. They have over 300 sites. We stayed both times close to the pool and front bath house. the campsites are all decent size. There are not allot of activites at this park but the staff are all very friendly and the park is immaculate.
